It was amazing. He put that team on his shoulders and would not be denied that year. Dirks was as good a playoff run by an individual player that we have seen.
Lakers, Thunder and Heat. BOOM.

Don't forget about that Portland team. They were pretty damn salty with Aldridge, Wallace, Roy, and Matthews. A lot of 'experts' had Portland beating the Mavs in the first round.

Wasn't Portland up 2-0 then lost a 20 something point lead in game 3, then lost the next 3 games after that?
ETA: Or was it 1-0 and game 2 meltdown?

Yeah, that Portland team was solid. Dirk owned Aldridge that series and I didnt expect that even though Im a huge Dirk fan.

For any kid growing up in Dallas the last 10-15 years Dirk winning was huge. Greatest athlete in DFW over last 15 years or at least the most meaningful.

One of the most impressive championship runs I can recall from any sport.
That Mother's Day game against the Lakers still makes me smile.
To put it into perspective how impressive it was to me personally, I would have bet against them in every series. (Even Portland in Round 1) I gave them NO shot against the Lakers/Thunder/Heat, and they beat all 3. Dirk was lights out.
