Did you guys know that Scott Kazmir is back in the majors?

His last game was in 2016. I was just checking the Giants score and got a complete surprise when I saw his name as the Giants pitcher.
If the Giants win the WS, this has to be one of the most unlikely teams in history to win it all.

I think Jacob Berry homered off him before the olympics.

Yeah, I was just reading up on him and it looks like he pitched a couple of games prior to being DFA'd a few months back. Still absolutely crazy that he made it back after 5 years

It’s the second time he’s come back from being out of the majors and seemingly done for career-wise. He made an All-Star game the first comeback. Being out for five years and returning is nuts, though.
He just competed in the Olympics too.

The guy that just relieved him in the Giants Padres game was fricking nails.
It’s amazing how many guys are throwing 100+ nowadays and they all seem to be wiry.

Even more incredible, his signing was a mistake. They were supposed to put on side one of Led Zeppelin 4.

Yep. Read the story not long ago.
Feels like he’s been around since 1986.

Lucas Luetge just did the same thing for the Yanks. From Industry, TX and was cut, had TJ, everything you can think of and then luckily made the roster out of spring training this year because of someone else's injury.
Now has a 2.74 ERA with 1.13 whip out of the pen after not having pitched in the majors since 2015.

Fun fact I just read :
Putting Kazmir’s age into perspective reads like a bad stand-up routine. He’s so old, Tatis Jr. was three when he was drafted in the first round of the 2002 MLB Draft. So old, he’s the last active player to play for Tampa Bay before they removed the “Devil” from their name.

“Dammit, when I said ‘I want Kashmir,’ I meant play the song, not to sign Scott Kazmir. […] Can he go against San Diego tonight?”

Jesus, the guy is only 37.

That's why I said it feeeeeels like...
Oddly enough though, he was drafted in 2002, and born in 1984, for an 18 year difference.
It's now 2021, and he's been around for 19 years now.
So, back to my point, the guy has been around since Ty Cobb played.

I saw he was selected to the active roster the other day and was honestly thinking he had pitched more recent than that. Reminds me of Daniel Bard making his return last year after having been away since 2013. Crazy

No. It was Berry. In the 4th inning of the Collegiate National Team vs the Olympic team on 7/18.

Kasmir Earnings
Wild that’s he’s made roughly $115M throughout his career and still decided to try and grind his way back up at 37. Impressive

They are old as frick, especially offensively. Some one found the fountain of youth from one of those Cali chemist.
99% of the time, a team this age, would be flailing as they get to the wire, as age and grind of season wears on them, nope, still grinding.
