re: Did LaDainian Tomlinson have the best prime of any RB?

Earl's first three seasons were unreal. Not just for the sheer numbers, but the physical dominance displayed in his style of running.
An argument could be made that Barry's entire career was his prime.
(I thought Roger Craig might merit a mention when Total Yards From Scrimmage were included - I know he had a 1000 yard receiving year. But a check of his stats show his two 2000 yards from scrimmage seasons were three years apart.)

He was cutting through the DLines like a knife through…

Thing about Barry was he always got dragged down short of the goal line even on breakaway runs.
OJ had so many long TD runs because he was a world class sprinter that helped break the World record in the 4x100.
Once OJ broke through the d-line, nobody was catching him.

Barry had two 80 yard TD runs in the same game.

Sanders averaged 1,500 yards and 5 yards per carry over his entire ten year career. Pretty insane.
Though I was at the 1994 wild card playoff game where the Pack held him to -1 yard rushing

Marshall Faulk was amazing for a few years.
Bo Jackson was incredible when he played. It was almost unfair how good he was.
RBs have such a short prime, but there always seems to be 2 to 3 years where one guy is the best. Shaun Alexander, Terrell Davis, Chris Johnson, etc. etc.

You’re being mocked but Shaun’s 01-05 run is pretty incredible

That’s a 1500 yard rushing 20 td a year 5 year stretch

OJ ran a 9.4 in the 100 yard dash which converts to roughly to 10.2 100 meters.
To put that in perspective Bob Hayes ran a 9.1 100 yard dash and he was an Olympic Gold Medalist in the 100 meters at 10.1.

Yeah, Alexander's prime was relatively short, but that doesn't matter for the purposes of the OP. For the years he was in his prime, he was phenomenal. His drop-off was sudden and severe, though.

Walter Payton is the greatest running back of all-time. Walter Payton is the only player to have 10 seasons with 1,200 or more rushing yards...in the stingiest defense era ever.
But his prime was never dominate like OJ.

He had TD runs of 94, 80 and 88 yards. His yards per carry in those 4 years averages out to 5.25 yards a carry...back when defenses were just stacking the line to stop him in the Dead Ball era.
What's even more impressive is the craptastic passing game the Bills had during that era as well.
