I mean, what else would even be in the running? Maybe there are some European soccer trade and contracts that are worse (I'm not familiar with those leagues), but as far as American sports go I can't think of anything even close. Even if Watson was still good and if you could look past the sexual assault allegations it was still an absolutely ridiculous trade/contract. They had to so grossly overbid the Falcons for Watson that it just became absurd.
It's amazing they managed to win 11 games and make the playoffs last year with their lack of resources tied up in Watson and with 5 different QBs starting games. Can you imagine if they'd had a competent quarterback like, I don't know, Baker Mayfield starting for them? They might have really been onto something.

For the Browns it is. They went through a list of trash QBs longer than a kid's Christmas list to Santa, they finally got one that brought them their first playoff win since the franchise was rebooted, on their division rival's home field, and they dumped him like trash so they could give all that money to mr rub and tug who had been out of football for like a year and a half. And now that QB they dumped had a career year and is in the playoffs for the 2nd year in a row while they're stuck with this whole mess.

Watson was dead weight before the Achilles injuries

Texans made out like bandits in that trade

Zion’s extension? Technically it’s nonguaranteed but we all know he’ll collect all of it
All we need to know about Watson was that the Saints and Falcons were also in the running, two of the other worst ran NFL organizations

I was really happy with the trade in the beginning but it just keeps getting better and better. Watson has given up on football it seems.

Herschel Walker is the only one I can think of that comes remotely close.

Not sure if he comes out terribly here besides his reputation and he's got millions of reasons to not GAF
I don't really understand this reasoning. What is the point of being rich if you have a terrible reputation, and nobody wants to associate with you (who doesn't have bad intentions)? Do you really think Deshaun Watson is going to be happy and fulfilled for the rest of his life? Money simply does not buy happiness, and some of the most miserable people on planet earth are filthy rich.

Quite possibly the worst trade
Guess it depends on which angle you are looking at it from. For the Texans, and indirectly Atlanta & Saints, fans, it was a great trade.
Just makes you wonder how much Loomis would double down here when he is manipulating the contract because he screwed up the cap so bad.

He’s not getting the massages he needs to loosen up that achilles anymore.

He'll still count $73 million against their 2026 cap if they cut him after next season.

One of the worst trades in professional sports history.

Just grateful he did wind up with the Saints

He committed highway robbery with that contract. Getting $250 million to play less than half of the contract length, and to be complete arse when you do play.
really hope teams wake up and quit giving out these ridiculous contracts to players who dont deserve it
these dudes are taking a page out of the Ben Simmons book of how to fleece frick out of teams

Watson's cap # is $72M in both 25 and 26.
At some point they have to Russell Wilson him and move on.

And to think that Arthur Blank almost landed that contract to get him to Atlanta.

But DW is a model citizen according to (race baiting thug) Myles Garrett.
