This sucks. That means Chicago, Cleveland, and Denver will all play in a sterile indoor environment. Lame.

Question… are teams controlling the secondary ticket market more and more? I imagine it’s bigger for games in indoor venues as opposed to outdoors

Has there ever been a successful mid-game opening or closing of a retractable roof?

This will be the 2nd(?) retractable roof stadium in a non-Southern state and Lucas Oil had their roof open this past weekend.

probably aren't allowed to due to conditions affecting plays. If the away team was going to kick a last second long field goal, just open up the roof on a windy day and let it swirl.

I think mile high and Nissan stadium are around the same age.

So both will have new ones. Good deal.

After these does anyone know what the count will be (dome vs open air)?

That area does have a lot of dangerous lightning. Their game on Sunday against the Titans was delayed. It would be nice to have a roof to close in order to prevent lightning delays that are a huge hassle for everyone in the stadium

However, I think almost all of these lightning storms occur in the summer. By late September the chances of it happening are rare. Also, the storms producing lightning aren’t usually big complexes with multiple cells sweeping over the area that lead to delays of multiple hours.

You (or someone else) mentioned that they have 300 sunny days a year in Denver, I believe they will have their roof open the majority of the time. Atlanta, Arizona, Dallas and Houston are still a little too warm right now to open the roof.

Their current stadium is only 24 years old. It'll be 30 at projected opening of the new stadium. I hate tbis trend of wanting new stadiums after 20-30 years. Yeah theyre gonna privately fund the new one. Which is good. But will the old stadium that's sitting empty even be paid off? Or the taxpayers going to be paying for a useless stadium and its likely demolition.

I don’t think there’s a single retractable roof stadium open the majority of the time. Even Indy is only open like 25% of the time. Houston/Atlanta/Arizona/Dallas are basically always closed, as are all the baseball ones.

Perhaps this is the first one, but probably not. It’s basically an indoor stadium

I understand it but I don’t understand it

Indoor stadium makes a lot of sense for baseball in the south, Globe Life Park was a god damn oven. Miller Park would be open if there was no rain in the forecast but Milwaukee has great summer weather.

Time to get Bass Pro Shops or a Gaylord Hotel to get up in there.

NFL values television product 9ver everything else. They should mandate that everybretractable roof stadium must have field dimensions open and can only be closed when it's over 80 degrees.

The elements made pro football what it is.

They should also mandate that all fields must be grass.

In 10 more years, the only stadiums that won't be sterile corporate domes with fake grass will be Lambeau and Baltimore.

At least the Waltons have enough to pay for it, but I like open-air football in Denver.

Would be cool but they want mega touring music artists, Superbowls, Final Fours etc

Fun fact: They have stitched synthetic fibers into the field for some time.
