He's not their coach, so you also wouldn't call him Coach Saban.

Coach is his title and in sports, its not uncommon. I hear a lot of Coach and Coach Saban.

Every coach gets called Coach or by their first name.

Proceeds to reference Nick as Nick. What an idiot.

Plenty of coaches get called by their first name when talking to people in the community and their peers. There's nothing wrong with a reporter calling a coach by their first name.

Isn’t the first name thing a sign of respect?

It is. In the coaching world literally everyone calls everyone else by their first name. Typically, the rule is that you call the coach “Coach ______” when the players are around. The adults call each other by their first name. Deion probably doesn’t know any better because he didn’t join the coaching profession the same way 99.9% of the others did.

Now I can’t take JSU serious.

You did before?
JSU has more NFL HOFers (4) than any SEC school not named Alabama. That's serious.

Sounds like a quote from a jerk like Bobby Knight.

I'm 100% sure that Saban was called Nick by locals way back at LSU, and I'm sure that continues to this day.

I'd love for someone to put together a video montage of reporters calling Saban "Nick" and send it to DEION.

Louisiana State (6) Alan Faneca , Kevin Mawae , Johnny Robinson , Jim Taylor , Y.A. Tittle , Steve Van Buren

You're on an LSU board, man...

The reporter in question confirms that he calls him Nick.

Sanders is sensitive and ignorant on this. Not a good combo.
