re: Deadspin: Manti Te'o Dead Girlfriend Story a Hoax (now with drug dealers!)

Then explain this:
In an interview with ESPN for "College GameDay" on Oct. 2, Te'o said Kekua's last words to him were "I love you." He also said that she was "the most beautiful girl I've ever met." LINK
Why would he tell his dad he met her, tell ESPN he met her and tell the South Bend reporter he met her?

He talked about it at a BCSCG press conference on Jan. 3. There is video out there somewhere.

Before he supposedly found out she was fake.

Dude...he knew about Lennay being alive well before the 26th. He knew on the 6th and he still mentioned she died of cancer two days later.
Yes I get that. He obviously let it drag on out of embarrassment/confusion/buying time until he went home for the Holidays.
Him talking about it after the 26th when he told ND makes no sense though.

When Manti finally comes clean, and he will once someone rats, this thread is going to be fun to revisit.
Unfortunately this will likely not happen. The truly damning evidence imo (the phone records and credit card records) will almost never see the light of day. Certainly no criminal suit will occur and I highly doubt any civil suit could result from this, so there won't be any subpoenas.
He can "come clean" and sugarcoat what happened and just deny anything else further. The only evidence against him is word of mouth and his prior interviews. Nothing concrete that shows he was in on the hoax (for whatever reason) will come out imo.
Especially if he really was in on it with a close friend. The friend just "disappears" and Te'o can control the narrative. Or the friend could "come clean" as well and just corroborate whatever Te'o says.

Why would he lie about something like that? For all he knew there were people out there who could deny such things happened. He was still under the assumption, if he is to be believed, that she was real, her family was real, and all of that other crap. Why purposely exaggerate this stuff when you know there are people out there who would be offended by you embellishing the memory of your dead girlfriend?
And if the phone conversations really happened, there would have to be a girl involved as well with endless hours to waste pranking a person...
Again, who would have that much time? Unless that other dude with the long name has a really killer girl voice that he does...

It's plausible don't you think?
I big part of me is not buying it though.

No way any intelligent person believes that

Probably already been posted but I'm not looking through 180 pages....
Listen to his speech TWO DAYS AFTER learning it was a hoax. LINK
Edit to add...if he KNEW it was a hoax, why talk about her as if it wasn't?

No.

I find it very odd that te'o didn't dispute deadspin at all in his statement.
He says he had an online only girlfriend. Didn't mention deadspin at all. Didn't say anything about there being false accusations against him at all, or accusations against him without all the facts. Notre Dame didnt either.

He's full of shite as the South Bend newspaper from October proves.

I don't really think so. I would never describe anyone on TD that I've never met IRL as someone I "met" and I think most others would say the same thing.

someone with more time than me needs to see if he mentions her in this BCSNCG preview press conference.

Anyone's guess as to what the next big Info that comes out is?

1. You're assuming these kids are smart
2. The scrutiny they will be under will be very intense. Not to mention, they stand to make alot of money and get alot of attention for telling the truth in this instance.
when one of them cracks, they'll have stuff to back up what they're saying.
