There are some people speculating that Manti Te'o is actually gay and he only made up this elaborate cover story to prevent people from digging into his personal life. It makes sense. The guy's a Mormon AND he goes to a school known for their connections to Catholicism. I can see why he would want to keep something like that hidden.
Edit: Actually, the Deadspin article is strongly hinting that Ronaiah Tuiasosopo is probably his boyfriend. This story is starting to make a lot more sense.

Then explain why he didn't alert the media so the story wouldn't continue to be perpetuated leading up to the NCG and NFL draft.
