I mean could Notre Dame's performance really have gotten any worse even with this huge story going on?
Thankfully they didn't, because we'd hear how ND could have won without the media swarm.

da faq did I just here????
Billick saying the NFL won't care if he was part of the hoax and that teams will give him a chance.
Money talks I suppose
just had this very convo with one of my bros who is a college coach and he said the same thing... even if he's involved in the "hoax" he won't slip out of the first round... in essence if he really did do this as a way to skyrocket up draft boards then it worked liked a god damned charm...

Dan Patrick also had a good laugh about how much ESPN is suffering to have to say "deadspin" constantly bc he said they had sent out corporate memos stating to never mention them on air

Just to show how much of a sham the Heisman is:
Teddy Greenstein, Chicago Tribune, said he voted for Manti because of the plight that he had with his girlfriend and grandma.
Said he would now vote for Johnny, even if Manti was tricked.
WOW.
Should have his voting privileges removed. He admits he voted for something other than football abilities and accomplishments.
frick that pisses me off.

After the way he played against Bama?
That's the closest test to NFL talent he saw all year, and he was EMBARRASSED.
first round

You know college football is getting popular. The girlfirend's of star players get major pub. Even ones that don't exist.

Is this the longest thread in MSB history?

Clay Travis actually wrote a pretty good article on this last night.

9. What's the motive to fake this relationship?
This is where I get hung up and the question I return to again and again. You're talking about hours and hours of effort to fake a relationship. What's the payoff? To humiliate someone? (And stop with your Catfish emails, I know all about the show). I just don't buy that there's someone who wants to sit on the phone for eight hours long night after night pretending to be near death with cancer so they can eventually say, "Gotcha!"
This is the biggest waste of time ever. Plus, it requires not only a fake girlfriend, but a fake brother. And maybe other fake family members too. What's the point of an entire conspiracy built around convincing Manti Te'o that his online girlfriend is real?
And that's what I can't get past, there just isn't a real motive to fake this relationship. There's no payoff, no pot of gold at the end of the long con.

Uhhhh I think he slipped out the first round with the overrated season he's had, the terrible Bama game, and the fact he will be mediocre at the combine.
He had two things going for him and none of them had to do with his football abilities. He played for ND and his grandma and gf died within 2 hours of each other.

I don't understand how anyone can believe a single person from ND until they answer me one simple question. If Manti was tricked with an "online" relationship then did he ever meet her and go on vacations like he is recording as stating?

pretty sure Erin Andrews had a vote when she worked for ESPN. Not sure now.

I'd have to say this might be the biggest troll in history if Manti had absolutely no knowledge.
That's a pretty big payoff

He was part of it.
There are only three motives:
-Cover up his homofricking love
or
-Publicity
or
-He was duped at the very early beginning and was embarrassed and perpetuated the lie for multiple years after that.

The ONLY thing I can think of is that they were going to try and extort money from himby keeping it quiet. But even that is far fetched.
His buddies trolled him, he found out and kept the lie up.

I didn't think the NFL would give a shite about a fake girlfriend too. You gotta remember all the people that they've let in and kept in with problems involving real people. This ain't shite to them

all the other players at the combine as going to rip on him so hard
no one in the locker room of the team he goes to will respect him.
