I really hate all of this. I kinda miss the days growing up when the football mags hit the stands looking at the schedules to see the interesting non conference games. Now we have morons bragging about how good their conference is.

That would be such a Pac-12 move, reject Texas, Tech, OU, and OK State to take Kansas State and Oklahoma State.

Baylor, TTU, TCU should join the Mountain West

No but it brought in a ton of Big Ten Network money for NY, NJ, MD, DC, and Virginia thanks to higher carriage charges in those states.

Iowa State brings no real fan base, no new markets, and no track record for sustained success.
At least Maryland and Rutgers delivered big media markets.
"The big media market" theory is nearly useless when their sports shows are 100% about the local pro teams.

If the PAC took K-State over Texas Tech, that would be odd.
It would make zero sense.
Tech has a much bigger fan base, is far closer to the other Pac schools, and would open up recruiting in Texas for the eastern Pac schools.

Texas and OU are SEC bound.
Can't see the Pac taking Kansas state. Should be Tech.

OU/Texas and the SEC knew they wouldn't have to pay the breakup fee. LOL.

I called this after MU and aTm went to SEC.
AAU means A lot for B1G, and Matty C has built their football program to where it's worthy of consideration.
B1G already gets big tv contracts, they don't need anymore large markets.

This is stupid. Dave Wannstedt doesn't know any more than you or I regarding realignment. Probably less. Any scenario that has the Pac 12 adding Big 12 schools will 100% involve a school from Texas. Gaining a foothold with Texas recruits and tv markets is one of the only reasons for the Pac 12 to consider going East.
The Pac 12 may very well lose money adding Big 12 teams but they may decide it is worth it to gain Texas recruiting and relevancy in the central time zone. Kind of like how the SEC took less money from CBS in exchange for promoting their brand to a national audience every Saturday afternoon.

If this rumor were true (a huge if) it may be that Texas Tech and Houston or TCU would also go the the Pac, but they want to keep that quiet until the Texas legislature is out of session.
I think it is more likely that by the end of the week the Pac 12 announces that they will not pursue expansion.
Again, if the rumor is true, remember how these conferences talk about institutional fit. For the Big Ten that means AAU. The ACC and Pac would also like to mean that, but the ACC did hold their nose and add Louisville, so they might make another exception. The Pac is high snobby, but who knows these days. KSU, OSU, Texas Tech, and Houston do somewhat fit as far as being large, research focused public universities. TCU and Baylor are both better than those in most academic rankings, but private and more undergrad focused.
Frankly, the best fit for TCU and Baylor would be the ACC. That would be good for ACC recruiting and the ACC Network. But would the ACC go past 16? While I never put much hope in a clean 4x16 school super conference end result, this rumor would make sense if that is now the goal. The Alliance goes to 3 x 16 and then suggests that the SEC join them in breaking away, including their own exclusive playoffs, at the upcoming convention to remodel or replace the NCAA.
For basketball, or even football, they could still add playoff slots for invites of lower conferences if they want. That might head off any congressional blowback, but funnel more dollars to the P4. For football I could see the Alliance proposing that the four P4 champs get autobids and the byes, with 8 wildcard spots that can include a non-P4 if ranked in the top 8 wildcard eligible schools.
No combination of adding Big 12 schools would grow a conferences pie using traditional measures. However, by eliminating a P5 conference you eliminate a competitor that waters down bids for TV rights. By breaking away from the NCAA you can increase the amount distributed to each of the remaining P4 conferences. Some playoff proposal changes may also do that. So taken as a whole, that may be enough of a revenue increase to justify splitting up 7 of the remaining B12 schools into the Pac, BT, and ACC.

WAC champions is better than 20th place in a power conference

Why wouldn't the Big Ten want Iowa State? They are becoming better than Iowa,
Since 2012, Iowa has won every meeting except one (a 20-17 win in 2014)
I doubt the Big 10 would take a 2nd team from Iowa, wouldn't make financial sense.

Well the Pac has Oregon State. So they're not immune to accepting glorified Community Colleges.
