I had to be up for 4am this morning and I had to MAKE myself go to bed last night after the bottom of the 9th. I turned my phone on Do Not Disturb and I turned off all my notifications. If I would have stayed up for that, there’s no way I’m hell I would have been able to sleep with such an adrenaline rush. My nerves were already shot as it was.

I didn't sleep at all last night.

My son is sick so I worked from home today. Finally got a nap in around noon.

I took a long lunch to go home and take a nap. I've been upgraded to marginally functional.

Any DATer going to the game tomorrow?

I'm wondering where a good place to have pregame beverage will be that doesn't get me put in a coma by some Bad Hombre-Dogerinos.

I meant to post it last night but forgot in the moment. Did any of yall catch the post game interview with Altuve on MLB Network?

The MLB tonight guys were doting on him calling him the MVP and the best player in baseball. Harold Reynolds asked him what he did to unleash the power he's found the last couple seasons. Altuve's answer was something along the lines of

"My teammates make me better. Believe it or not, I get good pitches to hit because pitchers would rather face me than Carlos Correa behind me."

Dude just refuses to take any credit for how good he is and always turns it into praise for teammates and how happy he is for the team.

Tuve seemed almost embarrassed to take any ounce of compliment or credit they gave him

He reminds me so much of Biggio with how he carries himself and represents the franchise. Biggio always made a point about "playing the game the right way" which meant hustling, playing hard, being a good teammate, role model etc. I think you could say those things about Altuve.

Speaking of Biggio, check him out during Springer's home run. I've made a point to kind of watch the reactions of the folks behind home plate (Crane, Nolan, Biggio). They're usually pretty measured. They've been around the game...don't get as nuts over every pitch as the common fan. As soon as Springer swings, Bidge jumps up in the air and pumps his fist. Love seeing how excited he is for this moment

I’ve been watching crowd videos a lot today and that is without a doubt the best environment Houston has to offer. That place rivals college stadiums when it is rocking and it look absolutely bunckers last night.

Verlander has to be so stoked right now...he took a big risk leaving the Tigers for a new team, has been embraced immediately and embraces Houston as well, and now he gets a chance to close out a WS and cement his legacy as one of the all time greats and a champion. I'd imagine he is going to be so dialed in tomorrow.

I'm pretty worried about the ineffectiveness of his slider with the slick ball or whatever. Last outing he only had 1 swing and miss on it in 36 pitches, the lowest he's had in several years. Same issue it seemed like Kershaw had last night.

Also starting to think that is Giles' and Peacock's problems as well.

ETA: Even Jansen is having problems with his

Yeah there was a great article about it on SI.com and includes some stats about the drop off in swing and miss. I wonder if this benefits us more or dodgers more. I think verlander still has a great fastball and he still only gave up 2 hits in his last outing. Hopefully the balls aren't as slick although I'm guessing that the entire production run for World Series baseballs happened at one time..so the leather is likely all the same.

Verlander has upper 90s with life. Peacock still has had plenty of movement on his fastball so no reason to think JV won't+if he needs to he can go to his curveball and change more.

Woop. A slider neutralizing baseball which leaves him with only an 89 mph fastball. What could go wrong?

I think his punch out last night was on one that literally backed up on him and ended up being up and in to a righty.

When Atluve was at bat, three of my four favorite Astros could be seen...just needed to get Jose Cruz down there so I could see all four.

Pretty sure Verlander won't accept being taken out unless his arm literally falls off or he gets completely blown up. This game is what he waived his no trade clause for. If it's close at all, you bet your arse he'll be out there
