Stros are getting royally fricked with the schedule. I'd imagine they'll be doing the most traveling in MLB

What do you mean? The schedule is arranged for "geographic convenience". It makes complete sense to pair Texas with California and Washington.

Dammit, late west coast starts aplenty.

Is it possible they will use some common sense and start games earlier because of lack of large fan attendance (especially the West Coast)? I know, I'm asking too much.

You were expecting not to get screwed by MLB? You know better.

That's funny. As if every owner in MLB doesn't want butts in the seats.

The Houston Astros remain the worst team in Major League Baseball. Maybe all of professional sports, though Daniel Snyder and his franchise with the racist nickname are hard to beat.

Some of these fricking “journalists” need to be put in check.

The DAT is dedicating this season to Astros legend Aubrey Huff.

Lester is somewhere raging. Delino is a superstar AND black.

Astros announced their initial Player Pool, a group of 56, which includes 30 pitchers and 26 position players.

quote:

Astros will pull players from their Player Pool to set their Opening Day roster. The remaining players will continue training at an alternate location and can be recalled throughout the season under the normal option and recall rules.

quote:

Of having four open spots in the pool, Astros general manager James Click said that "based on our reading of the rules, it's easier to add players than take them off, so we wanted to give ourselves some flexibility.

Astros GM James Click said the players in the 60-man pool are there to help the club win, and not necessarily for developmental reasons. "The guys that are on this squad are there because we think this is the group that’s going to help us win a championship," he said.

Wrote this about Jojanse Torres last March for Baseball America. He was hitting 100 mph at points last season, according to some Astros officials

So the Twins let 66 and 68 yo coaches go due to Covid concerns

How does this affect the Astros?

From a geographical standpoint, Houston is the tenth most west team in the MLB, so why wouldn't the Stros be in the MLB West?

Also, we are paired with the closest team to us, the Texas Rangers, so that means we would travel less than if we were in the Central.

If Houston swapped with Kansas City, the eleventh western-most MLB team, their travel miles would be higher.

Alvarez still not at camp, speculation is he is one of the players that tested positive but they cannot announce that unless he gives his blessing

It's a broadcasting compromise for the Texas teams and all the teams out west both home and away since little to no fans will be in the parks.
