Carlos has expected to be a superstar in a big market his whole life. And he's a smart kid ,understands how to market himself, his brand. Houston isn't NY,L.A., Bos. Chicago or Miami maybe DC,Philly meh
if he gets an offer from a big media market and the money is close he'll leave

Detroit,, Maaaaaybe , he likes AJ

i don't think he leaves Hou for arlington

5 years doesn't get it done unless it's $40M per.

Even that seems light from a total amount. That’s why I don’t think anything less than at least 7 or 8 years is gonna do it. He’s probably wanting $350-400 million over 10 years.

He might want $350-400M, but I don't think he gets it.

He might go for a shorter deal if the annual value is high enough.

$40M per year puts him as the highest paid position player, I think, then he can go for another big deal while he's still young enough to be worth it.

5/$160M isn't going to move the needle though.

7/240M will probably do the trick

Anyone seriously looking out for the best interests of the team should not want a longer term at that price

Crane and Click have probably hit the perfect O/U number on term and rate at 5 for 160

It is a legitimate offer that cerebral fans will appreciate, and even casual fans won’t think he was disrespected.

The Astros have no intentions of him accepting it b/c he will get longer terms elsewhere, and the team will benefit

Let his longer term contract hang around the neck of another would be contender. I have full confidence that Correa can not and will not live up to the level of production necessary to justify using that much of the team’s budget and still be able to play for championships

'

He mentioned $270m in a no income tax state in an interview he gave to Puerto Rican media. He knows it's not $350-400. But nope, 4/$160m isn't enough. I don't blame him He should take all the money he can get.

@JuliaMorales
Astros announce they extended qualifying offers to Carlos Correa and Justin Verlander.

Yuli Gurriel and Ryan Pressly will be back in 2022.

LHP Kent Emanuel, RHP Tyler Ivy, RHP Rafael Montero and IF Freudis Nova returned to the 40-man roster from the 60-day IL

Elsewhere on the QO front....Clayton Kershaw, Carlos Rodon and Jon Gray did not receive QOs.

Agreed. Though he was worse away from Coors this year with an ERA over 5. I had been interested in Carlos Rodon but the Sox not giving him a QO is something of a red flag. Suggests they're afraid he'd take it.

The health with Rodon just scares me too much. I think Gray has a pretty high ceiling in a new organization with better development

Yeah the Rockies haven’t exactly figured out the development of pitchers, Gray is intriguing in that it seems like we do a pretty good job of maximizing talent in pitchers

Same. I'd welcome a Kershaw signing just for the lulz of Dodger disgust.

In a vacuum I might actually like a Kershaw signing but I'm not sure you can count on him being around in October which is kind of the point of signing him.

Gray has said that he wants to stay with Colorado... but.. money talks.

Rodon worries me.

I could see Scherzer as a target since it would be a 3-4 year deal.

2 years $66 million?

That contract worked out well the last time we offered it to a 37 year old.
