I’d like him back. I’m not even as worried about the years as I once was. As long as Correa’s salary and the inevitable injuries that come with it don’t keep the Astros from spending to contend in future years, do what needs to be done. The CBT is going up and it already costs and arm and a leg to go to a game. So as long as the Astros are legit trying to win on an annual basis, pay the man.
I was one of his harshest critics. But his teammates seem to like him. If last year wasn’t just a walk year performance and he’s grown up some and stays healthy, I’d like him around.

Long term deal to Correa will be the death knell for this franchise. Don't take the bait. Click is not stupid and he may be able to talk crane off the emotional dealing.

If there's an opt out after year one, he'd probably give another walk year performance and then get his 350 from somebody else. Win-win.

You know, sometimes when you make good points that I agree with, you ruin it when you add dumb shite like “death kneel.” If you’d stop being such a teenage girl in these threads, you’d be tolerable.

I figured 5-6 years at $35 million/year with an opt out after 2 years before. I'd be more than fine with that.

Yeah, definitely one of those be careful what you wish for scenarios
I've been critical of the big mega-deals b/c they never seem to result in championships either due to the player getting injured or not producing, and when they do produce, the team can't afford to invest elsewhere.
I arbitrarily placed that at 8 yrs and 30M plus. With inflation that number probably rises to 35M now
We are paying Altuve and Bregman 25M each, and Correa is twice the defender either of them are, and he has turned into a leader on and off the field.
He has earned a 30M per price tag. Just a matter of the term. I think the higher per annum for a lesser term would be agreeable to most Astros fans

Lance McCullers Jr. will not start the season on time, manager Dusty Baker said. He had a “setback or two” this winter while rehabbing. Baker is optimistic McCullers will pitch for the Astros this season.
Hmmm.
Meanwhile Javier is working with the starters

Yea had no idea missing all of 2022 was even on the table for Lance, sheesh

Dusty said "hopefully" he pitches this year. That was surprising. Did he destroy his arm again? Remember all the will he won't he for the ALCS after the injury?

It wouldn't be quite as bad if he actually got the saying right!

Hopefully Javier pans out as a starter. If not, we may need to look at SP. Lance I'm sure will be out quite a while.

An opt-out is preferable. But if the CBT escalates in future years, which I think it does according to the new CBA, that might mitigate having another large salary long term, opt out or not.
As for Lance, you have to start preparing like he won’t pitch this season. Starting to sound like at least May or longer.

LMJ can't be a starter for a season
Never has, never will be
His absence was probably the difference last year at the most critical time
Work him in around ASB and hope his career isn't over

I was just looking at some of his numbers for last year and he had a dominant April before control issues got him moved to the pen
4 starts 3-0 record 20.2 innings 0.87 ERA 11 hits 26K 6 walks 0HR 3 shut outs
