Overall not a bad signing, especially if he plays the Feldman role where he pitches long relief/starts once in a while. If he's in our starting rotation though, then that's a completely different story. We still need A LOT more help with the rotation.

When is the CBA expected to be done? Will that have any effect on when some moves will start to happen/players will start signing?

I know a couple already have so obviously didn't mean much to them

"There will be some more," Luhnow said. "We we start spring training, we'll have a couple of additions that will make fans excited."

Let's hope his definition of exciting exceeds Charlie Morton level.

I'm not at all surprised that lunhow is about to "light a match".

Very disappointed that we haven't been in the Reddick talk. And we have to make a blockbuster trade for tor starter

I'd look at subbing paulino for Whitley but overall for the right pitcher ie sale Quintana or maybe archer I'm not against it. The pieces are there for the most part and a bird in hand is worth two in the bush. For all the accolades they are still just prospects with the roster healthy we are an elite starter away IMO and any other holes there are free agency options.

I think it's just more of that being our "first move" after a few weeks of being linked with some interesting names

If Morton matters enough that we are talking about how awful of a signing it was next offseason, then we are in for a long year

I said decent time starter. Sale or quintana will cost all of them.

Saw these 2 tweets to answer my previous question

quote:

12/1 CBA expiration date wreaking havoc on FA process. Teams/agents not sure of luxury tax threshold. One agent: "Should've expired 11/1".

quote:

Agent today opined that teams are "most active on guys the CBA should not affect - small to medium investments." Big FAs in limbo until 12/2

Edited to add this unrelated Olney tweet...

quote:

Braves are aggressively swapping offers for starting pitchers. Rival officials think Braves and Astros will add the most help this winter.
