The White Sox must be stupid if a mediocre outfielder can be the centerpiece to get them to trade their ace.

The big fella is assuming his vast knowledge of prostitution also translates to baseball.

he's nowhere near the caliber outfielder that sale is of a pitcher. They're both the same age, how are the 2 even comparable, one guy is a perrenial cy young candidate, the other is never in the MVP race but you guys think we're getting ripped off if we trade george for sale?

god i almost hope we dont make a move for an ace just so I can hear all you guys saying its not worth it bitch in midseason when keuchel doesn't return to his dominant ace form and mccullers is back on the DL. You'll be whining how we should have made a move and now we're stuck with fiers, mchugh, and some fillers

This entire argument is being based on the assumption that the White Sox would accept Springer as the center piece, which has not been confirmed to my knowledge. So we are probably arguing about nothing. But assuming they'd also want our top prospects as well, it's likely an overpay.

First, I've been an Astros fan ever since I met Art Howe, Jose Cruz, Joe Sambito, and many others when I lived 5 minutes away fir the Astros Spring Training facility in Cocoa Beach, Fl when I was 5. I remember crying myself to sleep the day JR Richards had his stroke on the mound. So yeah, I've been an Astros fan for damn near 45 years. And I agree, this lineup is shaping up to be a fun one - on paper.

That said, I'm not worried about the history of the Astros lineup. I'm worried about this season's lineup. And I still maintain that there is a huge gap between Springer and Marisnick. When you take him out of the lineup, you start asking other players to do things they wouldn't have to do otherwise. It's more than just BA. Hell, I'm willing to guess that Springer was on base via walk damn near as many times Marisnick and Gomez were on base combined. That's not even looking at his hits moving base runners nor RBIs. You aren't simply replacing a BA.

Not sure why you are so upset and want to say I'm stupid... We simply have a different opinion. Look at my posts and you'll see I'm not too far off of what you're saying. I want an Ace too. Throw any prospect at the WS you want to get Sale. Just leave the everyday players alone.

They're not going to accept a straight up Springer for Sale swap so I'm not sure why you keep thinking that matters. And I'm not saying we shouldn't do it, depending on what else they're giving up it could be a great deal for the Astros, but you're not making a lot of sense overall which is par for the course

I gotta admit, I also met Ashby when I was a kid... I basically was at the spring training facility everyday. He was a favorite player growing up. But I won't miss him and Blum calling games. I'm so over hearing about Blummers homerun in the World Series.

Bring back JD.

what wins in the playoffs, pitching or hitting? We had the killer B's and what happened? Kevin Brown,Greg Maddux,Glavine, Smoltz all shut us down in the playoffs. When did we finally do something in the playoffs? When we gave up on shane reynolds, mike hampton, and jose lima being dominant pitchers and went with oswalt, pettite, and clemens.

Look at this year's playoffs, the blue jays bats were ridiculous, mashers all throughout the lineup, then they ran into a buzzsaw of great pitching from the indians. Chris Sale gives us a better opportunity to win in the playoffs this year and next year than george springer and any prospects will ever give us. Is it guaranteed to work? No its not, but i sure as shite would rather sale out there than fiers, mchugh, or whatever else we're gonna throw out there after keuchel and mccullers.

ah so witty you are, but you're missing the point of we've always had those "good" pitchers who win games in the regular season like shane, jose, and mike but in the playoffs you need that ace who can win a series on his own. I assume you dont remember kevin brown doing that to us in 1998 or all the times the braves pitchers locked us up? Sale at least gives us a shot in case keuchel doesn't bounce back or mccullers is hurt again.

If that's the case, we prob shouldn't even be trying if the Indians are going to have Kluber, Carrasco, Salazar healthy with their bullpen...
