Once we see where Edwin goes, I think that would be our next order of business.

What's crazy is sadly you can win with 4 bats if you have enough pitching remember 2005 World Series team? We had taveras, lane,Burke, ausmus,Everett, pitcher batting everyday

Altuve is FA in 2020.
Springer 2021.
Correa 2022.

Gattis is lobbying hard for EE to come to Houston.

We have a nasty lineup and a solid bullpen, if keuchel can bounce back and McCullers can just be healthy at playoff team this team is a legit contender now. I have a pretty large bet I put last week in Vegas on the pats to win the super bowl if I win that I'm rolling it into an Astros World Series future

Does this mean the Minute Maid crowds can now stop booing every time Beltran comes to bat?

Would have MUCH rather signed EE instead of Beltran. Oh well. Still good to add another bat either way.

You say that now but look at pujols production now and think about Edwin production in years 3-5 of that deal. If you're going this year alone Beltran can provide 70% of the bat with better baserunning and infinitely more flexibility down the road. I definitely prefer Beltran on this short deal to 5 years of ee when we know the risk involved in years 3-5

Is Tony Sipp still the only lefty we have in the bullpen right now? I'd like to see us at least sign one more if possible.

Sad day when Astro fans do backflips over signing a 40yr old.

that 40 year old just hits .300 and drove in almost 100 rbis. Do you realize our lineup literally has no weak spots now? We just had a lineup that included marisnick,aj reed/tyler white, preston tucker, and all kinds of nonsense

now

1.springer - cf
2.bregman - 3b
3.altuve - 2b
4.beltran - lf
5.correa - ss
6.gurriel - 1b
7.mccann - c
8.gattis - dh
9.reddick - rf

our 6-9 hitters were a complete black hole last year and as long as I've been an astros fan minus that one year we had vinny castilla, julio lugo back in the early 2000s. This is hands down the best lineup we've had since the killer B's and beltran is an incredible icing on the cake. Personally would love to see bregman leadoff and altuve/beltran/correa move up and put springer in the 5 hole, dont really want him leading off anymore, but either way we're stacked. We have 3 legit closers on the back end of our pen in gregerson, harris, and giles. McCullers has the stuff of an ace if he can stay healthy, keuchel, if he can bounce back is a legit ace. I dont know how an astros fan couldn't be excited to have this team right now, its been over 10+ years since we were legit contenders.

Just goes to show you they have no plan. Just flying be the seat of their pants. Without the desperate ghrriel signing could have had both ee and beltran.

I'm kinda Meh on Beltran. Sure he's an upgrade from what we've had. And I'd be thrilled if he matched last year. But I'll go into the year with tempered expectations of a 40 year old power hitter.

Injuries and production decline are likely for a player of his age.
