Actually the opposite. Cowherd and Harold Reynolds owned millions of idiots yesterday with their segments.

Two words explain this phenomenon.

Yankees and Dodgers.

They are the market, and they need more than the obvious to explain over a decade of futility for one, and over two decades for the other

Any person in their right mind can look at the numbers and quickly see the Astros system didn't help them, and was impossible to use in the playoffs due to crowd noise.

But what they are doing is therapeutic, I suppose.

And I will repeat for my sake that if I felt that this system was a difference maker in the outcome of even one critical AB in the playoffs, I would be extremely disappointed, likely enough to be totally indifferent to the charade taking place now.

Good God excellent post. I agree with all of it.

Only thing MLB cares about is appeasing the Yankees, Dodgers, and any other big market teams. Even the Red Sox too, since they look like they are to be cheaters too, but not a word about them.

We obviously don't condone cheating by the Astros and they should never have done it, but these people are fricking delusional if they think this had anything to do with the Astros winning a title, because it absolutely didn't. We won the 2017 title no matter what and people should accept it. However, judging by the all time melts, people aren't and never will get over it. This fact makes me smile though.

I'm waiting for a thread titled "Should Every Player on the 2017 Astros Roster Be Tortured to Death?" But they won't, they just continue to do it incrementally so they can whine, then tell us we're melting when we say we don't care.

I posted this less than 24 hours ago, and we're beginning to approach it.

Let's have a DAT get together where we throw baseballs at each other to punish us for our fandom. Maybe we can all run naked on the driving range at Top Golf. That'll learn us

I do like the idea of pain rituals. We need to test the loyalties of our fans this year. Nothing short of 100% commitment.

I will volunteer to shoot Roman candles at List eaters bare assneck and genitals whilst strapped to the front door of home plate bar and grill at the home opener. He needs to learn his lesson.

Aaron Judge acknowledged that he deleted his social media post congratulating Jose Altuve on the 2017 MVP after the Mike Fiers story broke. “I was sick to my stomach. ... To find out it wasn’t earned, they cheated, that didn’t sit well with me.”

Y'all Aaron Judge deleted a twitter post. We done fricked up.

Oh no!

I wonder what their conversations on 2nd base are going to be about when all the edgy media photographers are going to be taking pictures and posting their amazing original size differential on Twitter!!!

Trout and Judge are never going to speak to Altuve again !!

Strommy talks, we listen.

LINK

quote:

“I think Lance has got to step up, obviously Greinke and Verlander are going to be the staple of this, but I’m excited about (Jose) Urquidy and I’m excited to see how that number five spot comes out.”

quote:

Brad Peacock, who’s yet to throw off the mound during spring training, is “out of the race,” Strom said. The staff views Peacock more valuable out of the bullpen, where the veteran righthander has held every role.

quote:

James and Pruitt were long thought to be the two frontrunners for the fifth starter. The organization completely revamped James’ delivery this offseason in hopes of refining his command.
Strom said the organization used Cole’s delivery as a “model” for James to emulate — fitting considering the velocity both men can generate. James said last September the new mechanics make him more linear to home plate, removing much of the erraticism that plagued him in 2019.

quote:

Pruitt’s been nothing but fabulous. He commands the ball, he spins the ball. We’ve talked to him already about his usage. I think he’s going to be better than he ever was.”
In their initial spring training meeting with Pruitt on Sunday, the Astros focused on his tendencies when behind in the count. As most pitchers do, Pruitt was privy to piping fastballs when he fell behind hitters. The numbers Houston had for him were surprising.

quote:

A bevy of young arms are in contention. Strom is enamored by Bryan Abreu, the imposing Dominican righthander who had a brief major league debut last season and appeared on the team’s American League Championship Series roster. Abreu appeared out of the bullpen then but Strom seems dedicated to making the 22-year-old a starter.
“I think starters are the hardest thing to find and it’s really easy to just take people and put them in the bullpen,” Strom said. “(Starters) the most expensive entity that’s out there. I will expend all my energy I can to make this guy an eventual starter. That doesn’t mean he won’t break with us as a reliever.
“I think he’s going to be a 180-, 200-inning guy as he grows and gets going. I really like his stuff.

quote:

Other prospects to get Strom’s attention include Enoli Paredes and Nivaldo Rodriguez, both of whom threw live batting practice sessions on Tuesday. Top prospect Forrest Whitley tossed one, too, with mixed results. His fastball command was wretched and some mechanics sped up.

I won't make too big a fuss about the first live BP session of the spring but if Whitley can't start piecing together his command, his prospect shine is going to take another big hit.

I so want Josh James to be a thing. His fastball + his slider is the thing of dreams but his control is piss poor.

The stuff on Pruitt sounds promising. But if James can truly polish up his command that would be a game changer for this club

Poor man's Cole? At a very basic comparison, they rely on the same things. High velocity and nasty sliders. Theres no replacing what Cole gave us. But it would be nice of James could improve his command and be of a similar mold to Cole.

Yeah he could be a really good #3 or 4 if he can improve his command. Different arsenal but perhaps similar results to McCullers when healthy

Cole is in great physical shape. James is fat and loses his posture/arm slot a lot.

I imagine the posture/arm slot is part of fixing his delivery. Obviously James will never be anything close to Cole but there’s definitely untapped upside there. He could be a really nice mid or backend starter if he polishes things up
