I’ll be shocked if Espada gets it. He was on the staff, and unfortunately, has the taint of being on the coaching staff that did nothing about the illegal sign-stealing.
I’d rather take a shot with Espada than hire one of these retreads. If it’s Dusty Baker, I’ll probably break my TV one night in a fit of anger over something stupid he does that’s a culmination of months of stupid things he’ll do. I don’t want Dusty Baker under any circumstances. But I’m afraid he might get hired as the Astros’ act of throwing a bone to MLB.

The sign stealing was 2017. Espada was hired in 2018. He wasn’t involved.
Now I guess they could just decide to not even promote someone associated with the Astros even if they weren’t even around when the cheating took place, but that seems a little silly.

If you didn’t already do that for Hunch, I doubt you’d do it for Dusty. Despite the success, there wasn’t much more infuriating than seeing the lineup posted so that you could see which healthy, often hot starters were being “rested”.

May have been involved with the Yankees

The Astros are interested in Eduardo Perez for their managerial vacancy, sources tell SNY.
Was a bench coach under Bo Porter

He’s Stanton level bad as a broadcaster

I'm rather underwhelmed by the list of names we've heard so far. Seems largely likely we're going to end of with a manager that has been described as the following:
~Old school
~Gritty
~Veteran
~Respected
Basically Dusty or Buck

At least with Dusty you know if a player can walk he will be in the lineup there are no off days

There’s a happy medium between this and what Hinch did.

Hire John Kruk and shock the world

If you listen to him on MLB Radio and still think he can manage a baseball team, your IQ must be under 75.

Yeah he’s an idiot. If we are going old school I would have wanted Bochy but it sounds like he’s staying retired. I wouldn’t mind Banister. Definitely prefer him over everyone else interviewed besides Espada, and I don’t see Barack hiring internally at this point

Why Bannister? From what I’ve read he’s a hot-head and he was fired because he lost the locker room. The players didn’t want to play for him. He’s not a forward-thinker either from what I understand. Total opposite of what I feel like this team needs.
This is a veteran team that has already won a World Series and been there twice and been to 3 ALCS’s. There is no way a coach who comes in and screams and acts like a hard arse is going to effectively lead a veteran team like the Astros.

Because he would start riots.......
Astros I think would benefit from Buck Showalter... not a classy name but he has never had a team like the Astros before either. He has always taken over a team and brought them close
