It sounded like they wanted to try to work Yordan in LF a little bit this year too. I read it somewhere after the year ended. Of course that could change pretty quickly

Considering how much they owe Reddick for 2020 and how he fell off the last two years, a trade is going to be hard without the Astros paying a lot of that salary.

They will absolutely have to pay salary if they trade him, they can still save some money this year though if they do it.

I’m gonna miss jakes majestic hair and awesome defense. Dude made insane diving catches on the reg look easy.

Meh. His salary has inflated beyond what a glove only 4th or 5th outfielder is worth to a team with limited financial flexibility. It's the Tucker/Straw show now.

Tearing it down before the MLB can get to us

I would trade Brantley. Get some legit pitching. We have offense. Not gonna win 100 with this pitching. LS gonna have Cole and otahni, Heaney and bow bundy. Legit staff.

You would trade an MVP candidate, huh?
Never change, man. Never change.

A what? I am not familiar with this concept?
quote:
Taylor posted a 2.16 ERA with a 1.10 WHIP over 66.2 innings in the minors last season, although only 0.1 of those innings came at the Triple-A level.
---
Notably, 2019 was Taylor’s first season as a full-time reliever, which seems to suit him much better. Jacob Resnick, a Mets prospect writer, notes below that Taylor was up to 97 after moving to shorter stints, which is especially impressive from the left side.
Whatever a lefty reliever is, he sounds like he might be good at it. Encouraging trend.

Hate to see Jake go but it's understandable. Hopefully we can trade Reddick for a new trash can.

Damn, gonna miss ole Jake. Hope he gets a shot at playing everyday.

Jake’s contributions were more impactful in the dugout and locker room with team morale. I was encouraged at the start of the season that he had improved at the plate but he started reverting back to the same unproductive Jake the more at bats he got over the course of the season. He did play a huge role in at least one playoff game win if I recall but his late inning defense never seemed to make much of a difference in the postseason, in so much that I don’t remember him making any plays or having an opportunity to make any plays that springer couldn’t make. Wish him the best and hope we got two hidden gems from it.
Now, on a more facetious note, when are we trading the guy responsible for leaving the best pitcher in the league, holding his you know what, in the bullpen with a 1-run lead in the 7th inning of game 7 of the World Series?

In other ex-Astros news....
Rangers going all out for 3rd place in the division.

The Rangers have reached an agreement with free-agent right-hander Jordan Lyles, pending a physical, Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic reports. It’ll be a two-year, $16MM contract for the Ballengee Group client, per Jeff Passan of ESPN. Lyles did not crack the top 50 of MLB’s best available free agents entering the offseason, making this significant payday all the more surprising.

Strassburg re-signs with Nats for $245million over 7 years.
That means the Yankees (or someone) will be paying Cole over $300MM over the next 10 years.
Anyone interested in a 2 yr deal for Keuchel?
I’d be good with a $17 - $19MM over 2 years with a team option for $10MM.
He’d be decent as a #4/5 guy.

The Rangers just gave Jordan Lyles 2 years $16 million. Kyle Gibson got 3 for 28. Keuchel is objectively way better than either of them. He's never going to get that $100 million he was dreaming of but realistically, he should be able to get 60-70 million.
