Guys if I win the lottery I will be getting with Luhnow and Crane on donations I can make to get the DAT sponsorship sign above Crawford Boxes as well as any specific Free Agents we would like to see signed.
If you do that, Bryce Harper might be back on the table.

Dammit thats a fantastic idea
It’s such a good idea that i am not sure why it didn’t happen.
Would print money, especially if a game went on past 11 and breakfast started to get served

Morton and Marwin are here next spring...the rest see ya
They have to do something with Morton...physically, mentally, to get him at least thru 5.
Tucker...somebody has to go to make room for Tucker...wasting away in AAA

Didn’t Morton say he wanted to retire?

Well, very good discussion taking place. Hard to really add much to it, but I will say that I expect Luhnow to strike now with this window of JV, Cole, Springer and Correa still open.
Next year really should be treated all or none, with some compromise coming after that.
Marwin is back. Everyone accepts his casual attitude here. His lazy jogs to first, his refusal to run out strike 3 in the dirt. He doesn’t NEED to play everyday. His value is his utility. His negotiation will be term, not per annum, and will be settled quickly, likely w an option.
Morton’s deal was probably done in the time it took to post this. Luhnow will get back the good faith he showed with Morton’s last deal for an injury prone arm. I look for it to be a sweetheart deal.
I think we make a run at Eovaldi with his hometown ties. He has the kind of stuff that attracts us, and losing JV and/or Cole after next year allows you to discuss a longer term.
This leaves you either/or on C/DH, IMO, with C being a higher priority. We’re not giving up Realmuto level prospects, but I could see a possible run at a guy like Ramos, if we fill DH in house.
I would like to add that our biggest obstacle to a WS run came when I promised Ryno 2 tickets to a game.
It was never winnable

IF you had Cora as your bench coach, you'd have never made that move.

He said he would consider it early in the year. They asked him after the game last night and he said he’s planning on playing and he strongly prefers coming back to Houston

Morton might chase the bucks, wouldn't blame him if he does but I get the idea he really does want to stay here. I remember him saying he was shocked the Astros offered him two years coming off the injury, plus he's really flourished under Strom. I expect him to return. Maybe there's some good will there.

Ramos makes some sense. His value should have a reasonable ceiling based on injury history and he won't cost us a draft pick. No QO available to him since he was traded mid season. I'd be fine with Ramos and Stassi backing him up.
On Realmuto, I'm not big on giving up the prospect package he'd command on a catcher. The wear and tear on a catcher diminishes his longevity over a season. He played 125 games this year... an elite outfielder might play on the low end...147 games (that's what Yelich played). So that's a difference of 22 games. Assuming it'd take a similar prospect package, wouldn't you want the impact of a Yelich for an extra 22 games in a season.
That's my beef with a blockbuster for a catcher. They typically don't play as much...what could a similar package bring you at a different postion

Anybody know if Wilson Ramos was any good when he was in Philly? Didn't see any of his games.

You may have information that I don’t, but I’m not as confident as you in Marwin staying.

Any top prospect capital should be used for
1. Goldschmidt
2. Maybe an OF

Considering he would be the second best pitcher on the market. If it is like last year Astros may get him at a reasonable price

Astros don't really spend, they will grab a couple of pitchers and look at them as reclamation projects if they Dallas go. They will probably resign Morton, I could see a 2 year deal with an option for a 3rd.
I doubt they grab Nelson Cruz or any of the bigger Free Agents as they seem content with their club overall. The infield is set except catcher but I don't think they would pay. The OF they have Reddick another year right? Plus Tucker ready, and a couple of other kids who could play. I could see the Astros busy in the relief market and grab a couple of guys plus some bench bats.
