After hitting a wall "both mentally and physically" during the worst season of his three-year Astros career, Chris Devenski devoted the offseason to refining his delivery. The 28-year-old righthander said Thursday he's failed to put a completely flawless delivery together in the past two seasons. Video study this offseason revealed "issues here and there" — specifically with his legs and hips.

Would be nice to get good Devo back

Putting a lot of faith in the young guys... although just as important is keeping the stars healthy.

Off season isn’t over yet.

Astros are still the leader for realmuto. Marlins are holding out for a better offer. But right now, Astros are still the leader. I expect realmuto to be in an Astros uniform next season.

Get ready to say goodbye to Kemp.

Do you know what the offer was for realmuto? I haven’t been keeping up with the details.

I was told that it involves 2 major league experienced players and marlins choice from 3 high level / major league ready players.

Was told the names discussed will advance marlins talent pool significantly. (Which we kind of expect/know).

Whitley and Tucker are not included, but we all know that.

Btw, I should’ve said, “Astros believe they are the leaders.”

I hope you're right about Realmuto. If we don't get him- or make any other moves- the offseason will have been a failure, in my opinion. But it's not too late!!!! C'mon Ludlow.......

ETA- Looks like the Dodgers may be the leader now....Bob Nightengale of USA Today reports that the Dodgers are in intensive talks with Miami for Realmuto. Jon Heyman of Fancred echoed the same sentiment.

Idk if you guys agree with me or not, but I'm in on the Realmuto trade. Best catcher in baseball and makes our offense and defense significantly better, and we won't need to trade Whitley or Tucker. I'm cool with this. Yes we still need starting pitching too. Might as well resign Keuchel if we can't get a trade for a decent one.

I agree with you completely but im not sure we can get him without trading Whitley or Tucker.

Today was fanfest. Here’s a couple of notes...

quote:

Justin Verlander, who is a free agent after this season, said the topic of a contract extension with the Astros "has not even been breached." "I don't know what their organizational plans are. It's something I wouldn't be opposed to."

quote:

Jeff Luhnow, in response to a fan's question about Marwin Gonzalez: "I'm one of his biggest fans, I'll just leave it at that."

quote:

Luhnow expects a wide-open competition for Nos. 4 and 5 starter spots.

quote:

McHugh likely as 3. Could still trade for or sign a SP, Luhnow said

quote:

Jeff Luhnow: "A healthy Correa, a healthy Bregman, a healthy Altuve, we win the division. No question about it. That's what we're counting on."

quote:

Jeff Luhnow said there is a "decent likelihood" the Astros make another move prior to spring training. Talks are not limited to starting pitching. Luhnow said the Astros are still exploring the reliever market and some position players.

quote:

Jeff Luhnow said the Astros have been "runner-up or third" in a few trades that have already been made. "We've tried and we'll continue to try."

quote:

Luhnow: "We have financial resources and prospect resources to make some deals. But do we make them January 27th or do we make them July 31st? ... I don't know the answer to that. We're looking at all alternatives." #Astros

quote:

"What is your position about trading top prospects to get a starter here?" Jeff Luhnow: "I did it twice already. And I'm prepared to do it again."

quote:

Luhnow: "Verlander and Cole both becoming free agents after next year, at some point we're going to have to either try and sign 'em or deal with the consequences of them moving." #Astros

People are gonna whine if we stand pat as is but I tend to agree with Ludlow on this one. The team as currently constructed should be division champs. That gives us the luxury of being able to take our time on upgrading the roster

I absolutely agree that it’d be very disappointing to enter the postseason without any more moves but there’s no point in being concerned about that in January. We will make some deals, just might not happen til the summer

I kinda got a feeling we’re gonna make a trade for a pitcher sometime in the next few weeks though
