Hope we get another catcher, but I don't mind Chirinos as a back up guy. Dude seemed to dominate us every time he played us, and he's got really good power too.

It's a Meh move and I hope he's not more than a backup but I guess there's some reasons for optimism with Chrinos.
His strikeout rate is respectable and his walk rate has typically been above 10% which leads to a decent OBP. He's very much a pull flyball hitter so the Crawford Boxes should be a friend. Globe Life is 352 down the line, MMP 315.

Here is Robinson Chirinos’ spray chart from 2017-2018 overlayed on Minute Maid Field. It’s not scientific, but it’s fun.
Chirinos is a strong pull hitter on hard hit FB. His 2018 HHPFB% was his lowest in two years and still ~7% better than MLB average.

I like that graphic.
I'm all-in on Bob Cheetos.

Lmao. Just trying to stir up as many clicks as possible. There is no way Ludlow has the nads to get that deal done.

What a disaster that would be...
No way crane’s ownership team would put all of their eggs in the hands of one player.

The Chirinos deal is 1 year $5.75 million. He's probably our starter.... you don't pay nearly 6 million for a backup catcher.

As long as get a bat elsewhere I’ll be fine with that

Looks like Goldschmidt to St. Louis is happening as soon as today... really sucks. Was hoping we would land him.

Paul Goldschmidt has been traded to the #STLCards. The deal is done.
Damn he would've been a good get for the Astros.
Luhnow's gotta be working on something big... right?

Still would love to see a deal for Robbie Ray. shite or even Greinke if they pay some of it

I think they resign Morton and call it a day. Hope and pray Correa and altuve bounce back and Tucker is worth a shite.

Are you implying I am melting? Hardly.
BTW, I forgot to respond about the Prime Rib/yoder question -- turned out excellent. It's hard to mess up meet on the yoder. Just had to put a reverse sear on the PR to get some good crust.

Glad to hear it. I'm doing one on Christmas again. The yoder is money every time.
Looking at what Arizona got back from stl, it's clear Houston could have easily beaten that deal without giving up anyone major. 1 of 2 things happening... Lunhow is content with the offensive players he has like white and Tucker and Kemp...or he has designs on another deal. I'm guessing they like Brantley. Wouldn't surprise me if they only sign a SP and call it a day.

Tucker, Whitley and anyone else we’re refusing to deal better be worth the squeeze. Or we better have something big brewing after signing a third tier catcher from the rangers.
