Another spot worth mentioning is SS

I've wondered if moving him to third base Is among the options of moving forward that they're considering
they lose Bregman but there's a shortstop out there who they like his bat better who fits in with the team
made me move them to third maybe move Pena to third
In this same conversation includes moving Bregman to first but I don't think he's staying with the team I just don't think we're going to meet the offers he's going to get

I think because we have other creative ways we might fill a hole in the infield I think the priority is finding a young starting center fielder with a top three in the lineup bat

do that first, get someone under team control for 3 years
do that and there are more moves

Pena is a flawed player but you can live with him if he's on the lower end of your offensive players.

.266 28 doubles 15HR 70RBI 20SB.

You accept not everybody is a star, he plays good defense and his offense is adequate. However with the other holes in our lineup, we needed him to be more of an impact than he actually is. Nothing out of center field, nothing out of 1B, LF often a question mark. Get something out of those other spots and Pena is perfectly livable at the bottom of the order.

It’s not 1995. You don’t have to be in a top 2 market to get big marketing deals. Not that many MLB players are getting them at all, really.

I read blurbs and heard clips from Dana’s press conference.

Maybe just my cynicism, but I didn’t like the general tone. Says nothing is off the table and it’s not like I expect him to trash this year’s team. But he made a remark about Yuli having a bad year when we won the WS and it not being a necessity to have a great hitting 1B…oh boy.

Then talked about Jake needing to hit better…sigh

I think he thinks we’re set on starting pitching…I mean without Kikuchi, it’s decent, but highly dependent on everyone maintaining status quo. Blanco was great but it’s one year. Can he repeat it? And mentioned July as expected return for Javier and Urkel. In other words, we’ll tread water if any of the initial rotation struggles or gets hurt, hope that the Tommy John guys do return, try to swing a deal if they don’t. Granted pretty much that exact scenario worked this year.

In my view, they need a CF, 1B, 3B, SP. My prediction is they sign one…either 3B or 1B.

I reiterate that he says nothing is off the table.

I think Bregman is about his brand, as in working in media later. He can "rehab" his image by playing in NY or LA where all will be "forgiven" by the lying leftist hypocrites.

Meanwhile, I suspect Christian Walker or Pete Alonso will be the Astros 1B next year** while they figure some stopgap out at 3B.

**but I won't discount Goldy happening because Crane/Bagwell derpity derp derp derp.

Do you really need to be in those places to make it happen? As long as he hits the right parties and gatherings in the off-season then I'd imagine he's fine.

No he can't do it just an offseason gatherings

but even if he could
backing up my prediction he can make so much more money doing it elsewhere

Stop thinking it's just about the contract that he gets to play baseball that's not the business any longer

When I worked for the county I'd go to the Harris County Sports Authority events because it was my job and good lunches free swag and If I was in the office I could actually walk

On more than one occasion I sat down with the Astros community outreach team and one of the women that worked for them was a liaison with the player's wives
The civic activism ,, charity events being paid to show up at a boutique purse store opening in the Woodlands or River Oaks there is so much money out there to be made by players' wives and the players that has nothing to do with baseball

Money that the wives can make which makes them think or be able to act like they're actually doing something besides staying thin

Mrs Verlander was straight fire at one lunch

What’s up fellas

I haven’t been on here since Hader imploded in the 8th

How many posts and threads were there about all the bandwagon Astros fans on this site and the same unoriginal trash can jokes that have been repeated 100 times?

Not even gonna go back and read the end of yesterday’s thread but as I’m sure it’s been stated, the game was a perfect microcosm of our season. I tried to stay optimistic but anybody that watched this team regularly throughout the season is not surprised how that series turned out

Anyways, on to the offseason. I don’t have very high expectations about us improving the team tbh

I honestly go back and forth about resigning Bregman. Half of me thinks we need to cause there really isn’t any other options at 3b unless there’s a decent stopgap we could sign? But a big part of me thinks if we resign him we regret it in the near future and it hinders any moves we can make in the following years

It’s so fricking annoying how much we are paying LMJ

Probably a good idea for most of us to take a few weeks off and then tackle offseason moves once the postseason is over

Another great season in the books with the best Astros thread on the interwebs

Several Cardinal sources are saying they will let Goldy walk. The Redbirds are looking to get younger and cut some payroll. Think Goldy turned 38 just before end of season. He’d be piece at 1B for Astros but they’d better have a backup should his offensive production suck

As a Cardinal fan, I cringed when Goldy came to the plate with RISP. Granted, his arrival improved the infield defense but I think he struggled at the plate this year.

Trade Tucker for an arm and prospects and it’ll clear cap space for Alonso

No, we’ve spent enough on “arms.” No one commented on my graphic, but you could trade Tucker for Rooker and dump payroll. Not crazy about him being 29, but he has three arbitration years ahead, and that black hole would be a great place for Tucker.
