I can support this. All of the best organizations around the world with the best leaders agree that it is important to put people in positions of which they can succeed.

Come on, Man. You really believe Dusty will play him at catcher 50% of the time. Vazquez was a better catcher and Dusty still only played him 1/3 of the time.
Y'all all living in some Dreamland. The staff, Dusty, all the mlb talking heads, Blummer and TK...literally everyone out there bows to Maldy as some great catcher. He's going to be our catcher most of the time. I know it's not popular with the DAT and lots of fans, but I don't see some other catcher playing most of the time.
I would love Brantley back.

I do. Vazquez was a rental and a Click decision.
Contreras would be a major 4/5 year deal and a Crane decision.
Dusty gets his check from Crane.

Even if Contreras only started at C 33% of the time, he would DH 50% of the time and still play in 5/6 games like everyone else in Dustyball.

You cant DH your other Catcher unless you carry 3, right? Otherwise, what do you do in case of injury?

If Rosenthal is getting anything from actual sources, he made it sound like they were interested in rotating Contreras and Yordan in left in addition to him catching some. If true I’d assume they plan on carrying Lee.

Yep. I think only the Mets would consider 3 years, and they'd be goofy to do that over DeGrom.

DeGrom is a fragile sort
I give Verlander a better chance to make 3 years than DeGrom, and wouldn’t pay what the market will bring for either
And we never face DeGrom, but I have a sneaky suspicion we would own JV should we face him.
The risk of decline in JV has to be very real at this point.

He won't get it. Scherzer was 3 years younger and also coming off a CY worthy season. He finished 3rd, but could have easily won.

I won't argue with either point for sure... but the idea for big contending clubs is to win the World Series. Everytime you get to the playoffs with a healthy DeGrom, you'll have the ultimate pitching weapon to help you win it all. JV is not really that anymore.

Was it already discussed why we aren’t seen as a major player for Rodon? It seems like he would be a borderline ideal free agent. Another left-handed arm, only 30 and relatively healthy enough to justify a 4 or 5 year deal for AAV of $25M per.
