I think the plan would be both, if Brantley is healthy enough. We'd want one more solid lefty bat. Won't know that until after the new year though.

Crane is ready to go big game hunting for titles. If Contreras signs, he is half-catcher this year with Maldy and then presumably Lee thereafter.

It’s gonna be a while before I can feel like we can have our cake and eat it too.

No way we swing all that, IMO

I still think we lose a young arm and give up on Lee and a good prospect for Murphy when the time comes

A’s are filthy rich at C. Some kind of 3 way deal at the deadline, or who knows, maybe even at the Winter Meetings

Just can’t see us tying up that much for Contreras with Framber and Tucker coming up.

If they do, they're committing to spending with the big boys for a long time to come.

Tucker is going full Springer.

Frambaw might be willing to extend.

i just think we got here by not spending on free agents, or even re-signing our stars who deserved a big contract— Keuchel, Gerrit Cole, Springer, Correa, Verlander. We’ve let them walk, replaced from within, and spent money locking up young superstars who’ll sign a team friendly deal.

We should stay in that lane. No more big name free agents, use money trying to lock up Tuck/Framber. Framber is a prolific ground ball pitcher who can still light the gun at 97. And he led the league it innings last year. And he’s a lefty. Guy better end his career with the stros…

Yeah, supposedly, he isn't the best game caller. Like it or not, Maldy works with our staff. I think at best, Contreras will be a 1/3 of the time, not half. It seems obvious that the Cubs thought Willson was worth more than he really was, with all the trade talk about him. Having a great hitter at catcher is nice, but it really isn't the norm. I'd only like this deal if it isn't too costly.

100%!

And I don't blame him. If he wanted to resign, he'd be in talks now or he would have taken the deal last year. He's got no ties to Houston and doesn't even really live here.

Would love to see Bellinger/Astros just for the Dodger fans crying.

I dislike Bellinger, as a player and personally

His most notable accomplishment in my eyes is a warning track flyout with 2 outs bot 9 in Game 2 of '17 WS

He's a pothead surfer boy. Not a fit for this team

That may have set my personal record for "worst puckering ever". Off the bat, I thought it was gone. Since Giles was pitching, the logical outcome would have been a Bellinger HR.

If Bellinger's ball goes 5 more feet, the course of history is changed. Marwin's legendary HR off Jansen becomes forgotten. George doesn't get his HR in the 11th that started his mammoth World Series MVP run. Astros probably end up losing the series like 4 games to 1.

I know BMac would have appreciated more carry on it

Anyone who has habitually watched MLB thought it was gone off the bat from the CF camera angle. And the ball was carrying with the high temps they were having

Only thing I can figure was the spin on the ball. Must have had a bit of top spin

And Maldy will be in every single one of those meetings helping him learn the staff. Seems like the perfect setup to me. Game calling is something you can improve at.

Contreras and a 1 yr deal for Conforto or Brantley would be a perfect offseason to me, other than maybe giving Montero a 3rd year but that's small potatoes.

yeah, Montero was an overpay

Hopefully not a sign of things to come with Dusty making decisions

Let's just say that the idea of signing Belinger better be based on "we know how to fix him"and not "we hope we can fix him."
