Regardless this is the type of early free agency rumors that never hold up

IKR. All the speculation is pointless. Guys hardly ever sign with teams that are talked about.

Those all sound about right, like it or not. I really do not want Ausmus.

I have a hard time believing that we are moving backwards in time with player development, analytics and strategy. We have been without question the best managed franchise in baseball for the last 8 years. The fact that the first hire we made after Luhnow was poached from the next most analytically driven team shows what Crane actually appreciates.

Not surprising the cuck leftists are praying for ausmus and his long record of failure to take over the Astros. I don't mind guys like Bagwell and Reggie having a voice to complement the nerds but you do not want those guys setting the strategy and vision for the org long term. It will crash and burn quickly.

I also don't think Bagwell wants anything to do with a full time baseball operations job. That would cut in to cocktail hour too many times.

I think he does appreciate analytics. Supposedly, Click fired a bunch of analytic guys and hired a bunch of scouts. I also think Crane is an aggressive guy in business and Click didn't make "big moves" Crane was expecting. I mean the center field position worked out fine in the long run as McCormick contributed with the big catch and his bat wasn't awful. But you never know how it will really play out.

I don't consider Ausmus' record of failure that particularly long.

But it is deep and steep.

Overrated as a catcher the way Maldonado is and bombed twice as a manager. Also cried like a baby over the Marisnick home plate collision a few years ago. Ausmus can get bent.
