The topic of whether Lunhow is sitting on his hands too long is interesting. Ryno says not to panic, think he is right. While I would like to have gotten a deal done last week, it isn't necessarily something Lunhow controls. The Athletics continue their ruse (my opinion) that they are "trying to decide whether we are buyers or sellers" to get closer to the deadline. The reds are also going to wait, as are the Phils. Just them driving up the price and urgency for a bigger payoff.

Fwiw on one of the baseball tonight segments a few days ago one of the guys said he knows that Lunhow has contacted 4 GM's about trades already and said he was being aggressive.

Yeah Lunhow is a smart guy, and think he knows what he is doing. The sellers aren't in any hurry to make a deal.

Good god Philly is in such bad shape. They need both a salary dump and an infusion of young talent. Not sure they will get both. Will be interesting to see if they demand a top tier prospect for Hamels and cover a huge portion of his contract or just settle to dump his salary on take some lower level prospects.

Next few weeks will be interesting.

It feels good to now longer be the league's designated dumpster fire. Thanks Philly and Miami.

We need to sweep or at least take 2 of 3...I hope lunhow is burning up the phones right now. It's time to make the dealz.

They really are. If I am them, I get the best prospects possible and eat a gigantic chunk of Hamels salary. At least that gives you cheap, young, controllable talent (when they start their service clock) and at least some excitement for the team that will help generate revenue as they move out of their disaster years.

Not sure what Miami is doing, their track record is so suspect. Wonder how long until they dump Giancarlo, because you know it happens.

Chicken put that bad Juju on us....although if we win tonight, were going to need Chicken to make an appearance and Anchor us until it stops working.

I thought Singleton looked decent last night, just missed one.

Feel like maybe swinging earlier in the count might help.

Whoever said last night that Marisnick needs to shorten his swing...yea huh

I would almost be willing to call up Tyler white and see if he can play first. he could not be worse.

That was me. If Jake could shorten up and hit more singles, he would be so good. With his speed, hitting a single basically turns into a double with him stealing bases

Jake would benefit from a shorter stroke and chopping down on the ball more. Use his speed. He may be 6'4" with some power but he needs to play more like a slasher, if he knows what's good for his career.

I know you folks probably read clutch fans but I got to spam it here one more time with this post.

quote:

In 2012 Carter started the year with a .974 OPS through 51 games.

In his "consistent" year of 2013 he had a 36 game stretch where he posted an OPS of .959, and a 39 game stretch later where he posted an OPS of .927

In 2014 he had a 55 game stretch where he posted an OPS on 1.035

Earlier this season he had a 41 stretch where he posted an OPS of .906

Carter has shown repeatedly that he is more than capable of going off for an extended stretch, last season wasn't an isolated incident.

July 6 OPS

2013 .734
2014 .695
2015 .711

Tell me again how he's so much worse this year, and this season is "different"

Sometimes these analytics just piss me off

What happened to the eye ball test? Carter fricking blows.

quote:

From May 6 to Jun 18 he slashed .254/.383/.523, and had a 36/107 pace.

quote:

Sure enough... Even more LOL*, since June 19: .132/.220/.340/.560.
