Depends on how much Quintana's first half affects his perceived value around the league. The more teams believe he'll get back to 2014-2016 form, the less it raises the price on Gray.

Tom Grieve is about as dry as they come.

Great knowledge of the game, no pulse. Personality of a dead moth.

This lineup gives us the best offensive production. Not sure why we haven't seen this on an actual lineup card yet. Springer CF Reddick RF Altuve 2B Correa SS McCann C Beltran LF Marwin 3B Gattis DH Gurriel 1B

Any lineup that includes Beltran does not give us our best offensive production lol

I have him slightly ahead of Bregman and Aoki.

I do not have statistics in front of me, and I watch every game (except the Sunday afternoon games) from the 4th inning on (except West Coast games), but it seems Beltran hits more than those two. Also, I know for a fact he has more HRs than those two, probably combined.

Springer CF
Reddick LF
Altuve 2B
Correa SS
McCann C
Beltran RF
Marwin 3B
Gattis DH
Gurriel 1B

I feel like the more I post this lineup, the more of a chance it has to become reality

Bregman:

.256/.338/.419 for a 104 wRC+, worth .7 WAR, 8 HRs

Beltran:

.227/.284/.406 for an 82 wRC+, worth -.6 WAR, 11 HRs

Bregman hits more, walks more, strikes out less.

ETA: To this point in the season Beltran is literally the 6th worst regular in MLB (by WAR), only guys worse are:

Napoli
Victor Martinez
Tim Anderson
Pujols
Carlos Gonzalez

Beltran is not even a league average player. Factor in inability to play defense and very slow footspeed....he's really got no business getting meaningful at bats.

I'm not ready to bury Beltran just yet.

Would be interested in Yu if he was most other places but I want no part of restocking the Rangers farm for a rental that we'd almost certainly not re-sign.

Man Jose Quintana cost a lot. He would have cost us at least our top two prospects plus two other in our top 30. Glad we passed on that.

100% agree, but still huge if true because that helps the buyers side of the market.

If Quintana was pitching like he did for the last 3 years I would say it's a fair trade. The Cubs are gambling on him regaining form because they're thin in starters the next couple years. Don't think we needed to make that gamble and instead can focus on getting a piece for the right price.

And I'm not sure it make sense for the Rangers to sell Hamels. Between the injury and a drop in his numbers, they're probably better to hold onto him and reassess things next year unless they're blown away by an offer.

For me we are set up for the next 10 years. I don't want to give up the farm for a guy who isn't an ace: that's why I say grey. For me Jose Q. Was never an ace. He is the definition of a two for a contender in my book.

For the record I don't feel like we have any true aces on the trade market right now.

Yeah, kinda my point as well. Neither Q not Gray are a surefire #1 so if we are going to get someone like that we should go for the best value. I will say Quintana at his best is really good.

Apparently the Dodgers have asked about Britton. I would be fine with giving up a big prospect haul for him then going for a cheaper starter.
