We definitely need to figure something out for DH next year. That's a lot of money spent on an 8 hole hitter.

JD Martinez would be scary in that lineup

Yankees are not getting rid of Ellsbury.... I think it comes down to
Judge, Gardner, Hicks in the OF with Frazier/Ellsbury/Andjur/Bird rotating DH with Austin seeing time at 1B.....

Headley is signed through 18 but I think they bring back Frazier

Will see
C- Sanchez
1B- Bird/Austin
2B- Castro
SS- Didi
3B- Frazier
LF- Gardner/Hicks
CF- Hicks/Gardner
RF- Judge
DH- Headley/Ellsbury/Frazier

Andjur will see more time at 3B/DH next year I think, Frazier will eventually replace Gardner

I like this pitching matchup for the Yankees. Thinking it will be 2-2 after Sonny frustrates the Astros.

The Yankees don't need a Martinez

Judge is capable of 30-40
Sanchez is capable of 30-40
Castro 15-20
Didi 15-20
Gardner 15-20
Hicks 15-20
Frazier 20-30
Bird 25-30

I mean the Astros don't either, but you know you would take him and be pretty happy about it

I really hope we resign fraizer. Everybody seems to love him in the club house and he brings good leadership to all the young guys

Please tell me you bet a lot of money based on these feelings... I'd feel much better if you did.

Pretty surprising that Peacock isn’t starting. I was already dreading watching Judge and Sanchez strike out on his sliders in the dirt.

J.D. Martinez, who had a terrific first month in the Major Leagues after being called up from Double-A the day after Hunter Pence was traded in 2011, saw his tenure with the Astros come to an end Saturday.

The Astros released the 26-year-old outfielder, who had struggled to get on track offensively this spring without routine playing time. The team also announced it had optioned left-hander Darin Downs to Triple-A and reassigned first baseman Japhet Amador and infielder Gregorio Petit to Triple-A.

Martinez, who was vying for a spot in left or right field, hit .167 with one RBI in 18 at-bats this spring. He was taken off the 40-man roster prior to camp, and the Astros have younger players like L.J. Hoes, Robbie Grossman and top prospect George Springer competing for playing time in the outfield as well.

Astros have to get production out of Marwin and Reddick this game... if they don't get right then the Astros are in serious trouble. (Don't confuse my comments as I think the Astros are going to have it easy if they do start hitting.)

Meh. We didn't get rid of this version of Martinez. He got a fair shake in Houston. Nearly 1,000 ABs and he was 26 years old when we released him. He never flashed that kind of power even in the minors, his high was 18. He tweaked his swing when he went to Detroit's system and tapped into more power.

He had one season I would say he got a fair shake..... That season was not great though. Yes he made some changes to his style which certainly helped he is one player the Astros could have used the past few years.

Imagine an OF of Springer, Martinez, and Reddick right now....
