McCullers was electric last night. I was happy to see him dominate a pretty good team.

Among AL pitchers who have thrown at least 100 innings this season, Lance McCullers (104 1/3 innings) ranks second in batting average against (.196). Carlos Rodon is first at .188.

Only two regulars on the Astros roster have a better BAA... Ryne Stanek (.187) and Christian Javier (.172).

I would have lost that bet, but Pressly is slightly higher at .198.

Probably the best year of his career so far. When he throws strikes and works from ahead it’s a beautiful thing. He has the stuff to miss bats in the zone even when he’s working in the center of the plate like last night

His performance last night gave me a lot more confidence going in to the postseason. The way he battled out of tough spots and how dominant that curve looked again in the late innings definitely makes you believe he can go out and win you a game.

The curves he was dealing after the Robel throwing error were reminiscent of 2017

I miss his beautiful curve which he's said he still hasn't gotten the feel for after TJ. But it forced him to lean on some other pitches. The slider has become one of baseballs best pitches.

He just has natural feel for spinning a breaking ball I think. If this keeps him healthy it makes sense but that overhand curve was amazing

If we are going to have a guy be that postseason shutdown ace this year I think it’s pretty obvious it has to be Lance, for better or worse.

He's been throwing some better curves lately. The sequence of curves after the Robel error last night was classic Lance. He seems to be getting comfortable going curves to LH and slider to RH.

Pitching Ninja has a good overlay of his 2 seamer and slider where you can see them coming out of the same tunnel

LINK

Hes dangerous when he can repeat thst delivery and have them look the same until the point of break. Hes two seam had a lot of arm side run last night. The question with Lance is always wherever he can command his fastball enough to make the off speed effective.

Hard to believe a guy so good in his first 3 years (Bellinger) has fallen this far. If he wasn’t such a douchebag, I’d have some empathy for him. But he is, so I don’t.

Man... that Robel Garcia is one pathetic loser.

You could tell the tunneling fooled a lot of guys, especially righties, on some backup sliders that weren’t necessarily located great. Either froze them or they were late.

Sure we all hate the Dodgers, but if you hate Max you hate America

I’m pissed they got him because I love Scherzer. Was hoping San Diego ended up with him

Astros are 43-25 against teams .500 or better. That is freaking insane.

Padres, Giants, Red Sox, Rays and Mariners all also have winning records against winning teams.

Dodgers are 23-26, White Sox are 22-26, and A's are 24-38 against winning teams.

It's encouraging we are seeing the best baseball against good teams and it appears the Astros have also maybe turned the corner and will continually to hopefully beat up on the bad teams that we are going to see the rest of the month.

Its weird how different he's been after the 2019 season. Like something that had contributed to his success was just suddenly gone after the 2019 season.

Agreed. I enjoy watching Scherzer pitch and it's going to suck seeing him do it for the Dodgers.

Probably better for my fantasy team, but Scherzer is good for a fantasy team no matter where he ends up.
