The day Carter goes from rags to riches and begins a 2 month long offensive explosion single handily lifting the Astros out of this slump

So let it be written, so let it be done

Welcome glad to have some opposing fans of a team not named the Rangers join us for a few days

Just realize ahead of time we fully expect to get no hit once this weekend so no need to gloat or troll when it happens

Which makes tonight's game a must win. We haven't lost a home series since May, if we lose tonight then that streak is most certainly over with

I know nothing about Brett Anderson as a pitcher, just that he and B-Mac make the best 1-2 combo of Twitter accounts in all of baseball

Speaking of, if you see this B-Mac, I see no reason why you shouldn't join the live game discussion at some point this weekend. You'll surely be entertained by the level of melt that takes place

The Astros are why I became a Dodgers fan at the age of 8. Got tired of seeing "The Toy Cannon" and Cesar Cedeno get their asses beat all the time.

So...... Gomez, Gattis, Carter, Marisnick, and Castro all in the same lineup?

What could go wrong?

From reading many of the posts in this thread, it seems people are gaining a little more perspective of the situation, just a short 4 game span from jumping down my throat for pointing out what I thought was obvious.

Hope we can miraculously start to manufacture some runs to keep this interesting down the stretch. Getting one game in this series is important, because road trips are not kind to this team.

I'm welcoming to the oppositions fans as long as they contribute to the thread and don't only show up flaming as soon as their team wins... (looks at Rangers fans)

How have the dodgers been doing lately? I sort of keep up with them but haven't had time to catch many of their games?

Everyone knows the shortcomings of this team, no reason to act smug about your stance of the team.

We know that we suck at making contact for large stretches and the offense suffers. I don't think any of us really believe we're going to the Worldw Series or even the ALCS. But we have a very real shot at the playoffs, and it's a huge leap over the last few seasons, so fans are optimistic.

Well stated.

Agree with all that.

But you don't sound like the majority of guys I intended for my message. Not many in these threads that have lived and died w the Astros enough over the years to make the distinction.

I can be smug, but the reaction I got just pointing out the shortcomings, leads me to believe that there are many in here that really don't know and are setting themselves up for a harder fall, instead of appreciating what can actually be gained this season.

There are justifiable reasons the farm hasn't arrived en masse.

I don't think the average fan understand anything about the 40/25 man rosters (not saying that's anyone in this thread.) if Tyler white was on the 40 man, I have no doubt that he'd get a shot, but they won't DFA a veteran just because the guy in the minor leagues is burning shite up. Next year is a different story however

As much cursing and damning the Astros most have done this late in the year, the fact remains, no one expected to be in 1st at this stage. 16, 17 is still supposed to be the years where we expect to be contenders for a long time. But like most fans do, success breeds greed and you forget where you started and want more and more. Then get all pissy when what you want doesn't happen and your original expectations come to fruition instead.

The ones that have repeatedly said that THIS is the year the Astros needed to make a move and/or do what th need to do to win a title as if the chances are running slow are out of their mind and shouldn't be taken seriously. There a couple of those guys that frequent the DATs that believe that, when in reality, THIS year is just the beginning of a, what I believe 7-10 year run of being contenders ever year of that span. Of course, I believe that depends if Luhnow stays or is allowed to stay. Hes modeled this organization almost identical to the Cardinals and I believe that this is the first year we are able to see that success. I, for one, won't let the overzealous posters in these threads have me believe otherwise.

We weren't expected to compete this year so we're ahead of the schedule which is great and all. But this season is its own independent season. What happened last year or the years before doesn't matter. And we've spent a large portion of this season in first place. If we collapse and don't make the playoffs, I think its justifiable to be angry about that. If it happens, I won't be happy and won't brush it off as "oh well, we weren't supposed to be here anyway."

I wish someone would have counseled me back in the day.

I appreciate the humor in that, BTW.
