You are correct. We discussed it before the game, but Altuve got the night off and Peña was going to lead off. Then Pena was scratched after the lineup had been posted and Baker put Dubon at shortstop. And because Baker is a lazy, dumb frick who doesn’t give a shite, he put Dubon in Peña’s place in the batting order.
Had Meyers been a late scratch instead of Peña, Baker probably would have used Dubon in CF and batted him eighth. Not because that’s where Dubon should hit but because it’s where Meyers was already slotted and because Baker is a lazy, dumb frick who doesn’t give a shite.

I get it during the regular season for pace of play but needs to be lifted for the postseason.

This offense needs more finessing this year than in years past. Two or three years ago, you could plug in Springer, Correa and Brantley, and Gurriel was still a force and Bregman was more of a sure thing. In 2019, you also had a healthy Alvarez to go with those guys. You didn’t have as much variation in the lineup. Even in 2020 and 2021, Baker’s stupidity was less visible with the lineup because there were more sure things.
But when you have so many less sure things now, his idiotic maneuvers come to light on a daily basis. Your best hitters should be at the top of the lineup so that they get more at-bats than the Dubons of the world. Only the people who still think the game is the same as it was 40 years ago don’t realize that simple part of lineup construction.
Unfortunately, we have one in the manager’s chair in Houston.

The second Peña scratched, Altuve should have been in. This shite drives me up the wall. Figure out another day to get him a day off, not replace Peña with the absolute worst option available.
