1. A very patient hitter who can get on base at a very high clip.
2. A true, dangerous power hitter.
—I mean, doesn’t every team this?

The Astros, now a clear threat to win the West yet again, seek a starter (or two) and a hitter (possibly a 1B if it’s a clear upgrade).
Their dream target is thought to be Diamondbacks 1B Christian Walker, a free agent to be.
Heyman
Shut up and take Chas McCormick, Loperfido and some leftover Taquerias Arandas.
Walker is currently nutsacking the fighting Shoheis.

They just got Gallen back, guessing they’ll give themselves these next two weeks to see if they contend or not before trading away pieces. The NL wild card is a shite show. 6 teams within 5 games of the last spot

The Astros lineup can benefit from one or the other right now to add length to the lineup.
A table-setter who can perhaps hit behind Altuve, pushing Bregman, Ted, Yed and Diaz down a spot would work. A veteran power bat can follow the top 5 or perhaps has the pedigree to slot ahead of Diaz would also work.
It doesn't have to be an all-around glitzy (and more pricey) acquisition to make a significant difference. Vlad for example may not be the best allocation of the current resources when the farm is just starting to rebuild and starting pitching insurance may be the top priority.

He seems like the perfect target.

Let's make Montero change his name to Taquerias Arandas to sneak him into the deal.

Looking back, they should have been aggressive to get Luis Arraez. He quite literally may have been the perfect 1st base fit

Christian Walker is awesome, and will be one of the more expensive rentals I would think
I feel this team is more suited for some 2021 Braves style rolls of the dice at the deadline rather than emptying the tank. But I can understand the argument that maybe this is one of their last runs and you should just do it

IMO, you empty the tank for a difference maker starting pitcher if one is available. The pieces you already have can be married with some cheaper additions position player wise.
The longer this season goes along the more evident it is that everything is wide open. Every team has some pretty big flaws that they’ll be trying to fill at the deadline.

Gonna be a lot of buyers in the market for an arm but IMO we need to keep an eye out for a leg.
