The Houston Astros, fearing that power-hitting third baseman Isaac Paredes will miss the remainder of the season with his strained hamstring, are interested in bringing in one of their jilted lovers to replace him.
The Astros, a high-ranking executive told USA TODAY Sports, are exploring the possibility of acquiring Minnesota Twins shortstop Carlos Correa or St. Louis Cardinals third baseman Nolan Arenado, while also remaining engaged with the Arizona Diamondbacks for All-Star third baseman Eugenio Sua´rez. The official spoke on the condition of anonymity since trade talks are ongoing.

Bring Correa back, save him from the Mogadishu Twins.

I have very mixed feelings about it. When you understand that Crane is only going to stretch his budget for one of his guys, like Verlander or Correa, I think it is a lot easier to accept.
The positional fit is weird. Correa and Pena love each other so I’m sure they’d it work whichever has to move. Carlos is obviously a clubhouse presence that has been sorely missed. He’s also injury prone which doesn’t work well with this team for obvious reasons

I'm just curious what the do with him next year. They can make it work this year since Isaac has become dead but when you've got JP and Paredes back next year, where do the pieces fit?

Correa is not having a good season it seems, please someone explain it to me. Outside of being "our guy" despite his time with Minnesota, what is the baseball logic? How much of his contract is Minnesota willing to eat?

I am guessing Correa is playing 2B. I will say this, if you are choosing between Correa and Arenado it’s an absolute no brainer

Without a doubt the biggest question, followed by how long?
Not finished eating Abreu and LMJ, with Walker being served up

Definitely not loving the trend of signing old, broken down players and letting the younger ones go. I know they’ve done well on most or all of those decisions involving not signing home-grown players to expensive long-term deals, it’s just those damn Bagwell signings that put us in a nut hug when trying to do business.
Hate to hear that it’s basically official that Esock is mostly dead, not surprised, but definitely disappointed.

Arenado vetoed a trade with Houston once already

I’d like to veto an Arenado trade to Houston as well.

Giants have anyone intriguing? They’ve absolutely tanked lately and could theoretically be sellers

Hard to believe we would be able to win that sweepstakes. I’m not sure I want to quite honestly
Posted on 7/30/25 at 10:01 am to Lsuhoohoo
Yea I've wanted Yaz for a while. He's having a down year but 99 OPS+ so he's still better than what they've been trotting out there.
Man, I've watched entirely too much Suarez to be excited about adding him in high leverage at bats.
