Giles cant help the team anymore, he's a total head case, and cant be relied on. He gone.

I'm also a little surprised that Bregman is hitting this well but looks like he's really that good. Obviously hitting between Springer and Altuve is the perfect spot to get plenty of good pitches.

I just realized that he had that really strange 'walk-off' hit earlier this season when the 1st baseman horribly misplayed a routine pop-up in nearly the same spot as last night's dribbler. Two of the strangest endings to a game that both happened with Bregman at the plate.

Obviously we as fans think that, but IMO opinion, the signals the front office doesn’t think he’s benifical to the team anymore either

ETA: this isn’t a roster squeeze like Jake or someone going down to make room for someone better

I am worried that it tips our hand a little bit with the reliever trade market. Teams might can ask for a little more knowing we need a shutdown reliever even more now. Rondon is doing well right now but need a little more than that.

Realmuto may be a bridge too far...the Marlins will want half of the Astros farm system

Well give them the half that doesn’t include tucker, Alvarez, and Whitley

I am not. That is not really how major league trades work. At least not for the type of players we will be going for. Multiple teams will be making offers and they will pick the best offer. Not like we will be the only team.

So dont give them the half they would want? Seems like that would work really well

Plus I would rather show my hand and not deal with Giles and have him on the MLB roster.

Carlos Correa said he is on schedule to start swinging a bat today. Today, he said, was the most he’s done since he went on the disabled list. A rehab assignment this weekend could be possible, he said.

Could be really good, or really bad

I think you could maybe make a deal without Tucker and Whitley but it would be very tough and would obviously include Alvarez. It’s unrealistic to expect them to pull off another Cole type deal at the deadline. If they’re getting a high impact player I expect Alvarez to be gone

After last night, and today, every team knows we don't have a closer.

The price for everyone, as far as the Astros are concerned, became exponentially higher. It's the penalty for not rectifying the situation in the offseason.

Giles could not be trusted in the post season last year, it's not like this a lightning bolt from the blue.

Exponentially is a bit extreme I think. I expect them to make a deal for a solid reliever and keep Tucker and Whitley while doing it

frick all that.

Give it to Rondon. I'm sure watching Giles be an a-hole, doesnt help your confidence.

He lowered a code red on Giles. He kicked a man while he was down.
