Remember 2022 when we coveted Josh Bell to replace an unproductive aging Cuban first baseman? That dream could still come true.

I member.

Could the Abreu release be the cold shower Crane needs?

Nah, I'm just wishful thinking,

I'm not delusional enough to think the four-headed monster will come away from this smelling like roses. Now that they've pulled the trigger on dumping Abreu, and the league knows we're in trouble at 1B, I'm fully expecting these clowns to shite the bed and get raped in a panic move.

On Loperfido, actions speak louder than words. He's not consistently starting at 1st in the minors, they never played him at 1st in the majors. When he pinch ran for Abreu last week, they put him into left field and moved Dubon to 1st. They don't see him as a 1B.

He’s a legitimately good OFer, so I’d rather he stay there also. But we should make a creative trade with Meyers or Chas for a starting pitcher with some control. I’m not sure our current front office has the capability to do that the way past ones did

Belt still available and we wouldn’t have to give up anyone.

I’m sure there has to be something up given no one has kicked the tires on him, but man it sure seems like little risk in giving him a call.

I’m a big advocate for Dubon to be moved from utility to 1B or 3B (if we trade Bregman which I think we should)

Dubon should not be a first baseman. If you want to play him there the rest of this year then sure I guess, but I don’t really care too much about the rest of this season at this point. He’s probably below the bar offensively for an everyday 3B as well. He’s great as a utility guy but we need to do better at both spots (especially offensively at 1B) long term

Yeah I also want Loperfido getting regular AB’s to get experience if we’re considering this season a wash

Your point about dealing Chas/Jake is probably the smartest thing we can do but I’m not getting my hopes up

I don’t disagree with you guys. Give the OF to Tucker, Meyers (Dubon?) and Loperfido for now. That sounds strong to me idk? Yordan remains DH for most of the games that way. I’d be curious to see if we will play Lopo at 1B. He had a pretty strong arm in LF from what I remember

Edit: I forgot about Chas. Can we trade Meyers and Chad for scraps and make Dubon CF full-time? Lol

Which is dumb because he has plenty of 1B experience overall and is really damn good defensively there.

Crane will want to make up for his blunder by trading for Alonso or Goldy. He's very predictable. Too bad he also values paying high prices for aging first basemen and closers (volatile by nature).

Bregman for Pete would seem like the type of move that he would make

Dubon’s versatility seems worth more than anything we’d get in a trade for Chas or Jake. If Loperfido wanted to play 1st, he’d have to be the first option. Doesn’t seem like he’s thrilled about the idea though?

As for tonight is anyone shocked we’re favored? I’m expecting Skubal to bend us over

Feel like front office shouldn’t give him a choice. Should really go like this:

Dana: do you want to play in the big leagues?
Lopo: yes
Dana: okay you’re playing 1B. You will remain in AAA if you want to play OF
Lopo: 1B it is

I’m sure he wants to play in the major leagues and doesn’t care where it is. I doubt this is his choice
