That is a top-5 favorite gif.

And this was this best opening for DAT this season.

ETA:

Astros place Charlie Morton on 10-day DL with strained lat. No expected time for return at this point.

welcome back to the rotation Mr Fiers

Man what a bummer that neither Martes or Paulino put themselves in a position to be called up. Would have been a major help

Also, Jankowski was called back up. Surprised it wasn't Tolliver (or did he get hurt?)

3 things to know about this game

• Baltimore center fielder Adam Jones is not expected to play and could be sidelined through Monday after sitting on Saturday with a jammed left ankle.

• The last Astros starting pitcher to allow zero earned runs in four consecutive starts (of five or more innings) was Nolan Ryan in 1984.

• The Astros are 8-2 in McCullers' starts this season.

You can't get rid of this frick. But it was only a matter if time until Chuck Morton broke again.

Call one of the few already DOA teams for a starter. Maybe get Dan Straily back. We're gonna need starting depth now or the staff may fall apart.

Joe's last start was promising. Personally, I don't want to make a deal for a band-aid. Go hard or don't go at all with the lead we have right now.

No thank you. The Astros do not need another 5 inning guy.

They need someone to eat innings to save the BP. If the the 3 guys after Keuchel and LMJ don't start going deeper into games, the bullpen is going to be gassed going into late September/October.

Who starts next if Peacock craters or anyone else gets hurt? We need more than a bandaid. We need legit depth for another 112 games.

Hopefully it's mild for Morton but..

Sonny Gray missed over a month with a lat strain.

James Shields has been out over a month with a lat strain

Noah Syndergaard has been out a month with a lat strain.

It could be July before we get him back.

This ain't a cherry picking convo we're having here. We actually DO need another 5 inning guy who we know doesn't suck at this point.

I agree, that's why I was categorizing Straily as a band-aid.

Ok semantics here. We need a bandaid.

Yeah honestly we really need to hope Peacock can atleast be serviceable. Otherwise we will most definitely need to find an innings eater. Sucks Fister isn't still a free agent

I propose Clayton Richard of the 18-33 San Diego Padres. Once he isn't needed in the rotation he could probably be an upgrade over Sipp in the pen

I know it was mentioned earlier with other pitchers who have experienced lat strains, but I would be very very surprised if Morton is out for less than a month or 2.
