7 hits 2 runs and 20 strikeouts through 2 games. Luhnows boom or bust offense has been a disaster so far. Keuchel won us the first game.

The middle of this order needs to start fricking hitting.
I may be mistaken, but Valbuena through Castro I think is 0 fer

I didn't expect to go from a notch above shite last year to a .300 lineup, but damn. Luhnow is a metrics guy. How do we have such poor OBA/OBP?

Get used to it against quality pitching.

True, I guess I am having flashbacks to last year. I need to give this team a chance. Cleveland has some great arms.
I predicted 79 wins. Meh

It seemed the game plan for tonight was to be patient at the plate and run up Carrascos pitch count. Didn't work worth a shite.
This team watched entirely too many strikes.
Lots of fricking Cleveland fans. That sucked.
The Astros girls in the white shorts...
Hopefully tomorrow has better results.

Somebody else needs to step up with the DAT tomorrow.
My win streak is over.
Starting tomorrow is where this team should excel...when they're facing the 3, 4 and 5 guys in other teams' rotations.
We'll see if Wojo is ready for the big time tomorrow

90% of his pitches were first pitch fastballs. Couldn't understand why they continued to watch them. I get the pitch count thing, but this lineup is built around power. Hack at the fastballs!!
Not a bad crowd tonight for a Wednesday night. View from my seats. And I was on tv for Santana's HR. Well, I was in the shot anyway. Dude in the orange shirt in the bottom left of that pic is the one that caught the HR.

I've got an early theory/theme already across the league. We are seeing a lot of "well-pitched games" because the umpires are holding to the K-zone standard to which they are being measured. We aren't seeing the Maddox/Glavine type strikes that are really a foot outside in the other batter's box, but the high and low strikes are more available with the close ones going to the pitcher.
So taking pitches may not be smart when the best pitch you may see is a get-ahead strike one. We'll see how that develops though.

I would be swinging away on the first pitch every time if I were a major league hitter right now. I agree with your assessment. They had mentioned last night that Gattis was a .400 hitter on the first pitch last year. No one in the middle is hitting for shite right now, so they better start doing something to get going.
