I know I’m not ready for another season of Dusty.
I am, however, ready for another season of “what da frick is he doin!?” Looks from Dusty every time Greinke is on the mound.

Wait, did I miss a memo?
That's not still a thing, right?

Transitioning from '20 to '21... a couple of articles give room for hope among us DAT contributors.
Namely: Altuve.
Article: Hitters whose '20 wasn't as bad as it looked

Article: Hitters whose '20 wasn't as bad as it looked
quote:
We combined both sides, and we came up with a new seasonal average. (It's fair that wRC+ might not be the perfect way to do this, given that it's park-adjusted and many postseason games weren't in regular home parks, but we wanted to keep it to a stat pinned to 100 as average rather than raw OPS or wOBA.)
In Altuve's case, that looks like this: His regular season 77 wRC+ gets the heavy side of the 78%/22% split, his postseason 235 wRC+ gets the light side, and it's all applied over 270 total plate appearances. End result: 112 wRC+, 12% above average, or roughly what Cody Bellinger (114 wRC+) just did. Maybe that would make you think differently about him headed into a new season.
quote:
Eight hitters went from below-average lines (wRC+ under 100) to above-average (wRC+ above 100).
• Altuve (from 77 to 112, +35 points)
• Carlos Correa (from 98 to 124, +26 points)
• Chad Pinder (from 92 to 114, +22 points)
• Joc Pederson (from 88 to 105, +17 points)
• Manuel Margot (from 93 to 108, +15 points)
• Marcus Semien (from 92 to 107, +15 points)
• Aledmys Díaz (from 97 to 111, +14 points)
• Austin Barnes (from 94 to 103, +9 points)

Another Article: Astros' biggest addition might be from within
quote:
A healthy Alvarez isn’t the only reason why the Astros’ lineup could dominate again. Bringing back Michael Brantley’s extremely professional at-bats could be huge. Altuve’s track record suggests he’s far likelier to rake than struggle again (and he might have already returned to form in the postseason). ZiPS is also high on Kyle Tucker (124 OPS+, 27 HR, 103 RBI) as he takes Springer’s place in the outfield. The Astros could (and probably should) still add a center fielder, but if that player and Brantley wind up being their two biggest position-player signings, a quiet offseason could actually pay off nicely.
A team that finished one game shy of the World Series with a downgraded offense projects to be more potent, mostly via internal improvements -- even sans Springer. If that happens, the return of Air Yordan will probably be a big reason why.

I really hope he can stay healthy this year

I want to believe in the return of 2019 Yordan.
I want to.
He's still in his early 20s, so there's really no reason he can't get back there.

Highly doubt the kid stays healthy in rebuilt toothpick legs.

All this time I’ve wondered, wtf is a Tiger Ryno.
Now I get it... it’s just ‘ Baw speak’ meaning “Thread Herpes”

Yep. 7 innng DH as well.
I’d honestly rather a tie that that bullshite. At least they played real baseball for 9 innings to get to a tie.
Supposedly this is to “save the pitching.”

Steve Cishek signed to a minor league deal with an invite to spring training.
He was bad with the White Sox last year, but prior to that he had a couple good season with the Cubs. Not the impact end of game arm I want but a potentially solid depth addition

I like this. Low risk, potential high reward. He strung together several solid seasons until 2020.

The Home Plate Bar and Grill across the street from Minute Maid was demolished and the train and blue house are being moved...again.
quote:
The Houston Astros purchased the 1.738 acres where it and a historic locomotive sits through an affiliate for $17 million in 2019 and broke ground this week on what will eventually become a retail and residential development. Meantime, the storied home and train will be relocated; an excavator dismantled the small retail strip where HTX Fan Tavern and Home Plate Bar & Grill once stood Tuesday afternoon. The plan short term is to use the land as a parking lot, said Anita Sehgal, Astros senior vice president of marketing and communications.
