Yankees caught a break with Tanaka not opting out. One less thing to worry about

I'm also pretty shocked at the response. It's great though because you can be sure asses are going to be in the seats this upcoming season. Also, a new generation of stros fans are being born.
Astro pride city wide. The days of getting some cheapos and ending up behind the dugout are over but despite having some terrific memories with that it's in the best interests of the franchise. Gonna be easier convincing crane to open up the check book with a packed park merchandise flying off the shelf and the chance to do it again if he locks down the core

Yeah its gonna get a lot more pricey to go to games and it'll be the trendy outing again. But it honestly doesn't bother me. I'm glad to see this franchise getting support again, developing new fans and getting some national recognition. If that means we get bandwagoners who couldn't tell you who Bagwell or Biggio are..so be it.
Altuve was on the Tonight Show with Fallon himself wearing an Astros cap. Bregs, Springer and Carlito are on SNL tomorrow. Correa was on the Today Show and the Astros are being talked about all over national programs. It's pretty cool seeing them everywhere.

Great pics. Wish I could've gone to the parade. Had to drive to BR today to take care of mom after surgery. I did get caught in the horrendous traffic on 10 at 45 driving out, so I feel like I was a little part of it.
And did I hear that SJL spoke?
ETA- probably already posted and the captain obvious move of the offseason was using the option on Altuve for $6 mil. What a steal. Will he be eligible for arbitration?

Baws that parade was the most awesome thing I’ve ever seen in this city.
Damn near a MILLION people. Crazy

Anyone in here mad at Verlander?
I'm reading a lot of hateful responses to Verlander skipping the parade for his wedding that was planned while he was still with Detroit.

Only thing that sucks about success.

Doesn’t bother me. I’d go to get married in Italy too

Nah, only people complaining are the people who complain about everything. Just another reason to bitch about something.
We don't resign any of the free agents. Maybin played well with us, but we already have him on the roster in Marisnick.
Davis is the big name it seems, and I believe most would be very pleased to sign him. The only "must" get seems to be a reliable lefty reliever. Everything else can be figured out internally. No need to go after a DH, when you can piece together that position with any number of the bench rotation guys.
What's the chances Tuve gets extended before NEXT season. I know there will be serious talks after next year, but it would be nice to jump out in front of his incoming free agency.

I'm not mad, but when he got trade to the Astros probably could have renegotiated his deal for the venue etc. But, if Kate Upton wanted me to go to Italy with her...

I expect Luhnow to try to get talks going, because Altuve is a superstar, face of the franchise hitter who continually strives to get better. I think he will be a great player for a while, into his mid 30s.
Lots of people worry about Boras being his agent, but Jose loves Houston so if he wants to stay he will stay. Just have to pay him.

So is Gregerson gone? He had a rough season but had been stable for the Stros the previous years. You would think they would want him back on a 1 or 2 year deal

Probably. Giles-Devo-Harris-Peacock are above him in the pecking order. Musgrove was better than him as well. Maybe if he’ll play for $3M or something, but I think we should be looking for upgrades.
