If you can go from Gregerson to someone like Morrow or Reed that's a huge upgrade

Yuge. 2015-2016 Gregerson was a K & GB machine but he gave up way too many home runs this year. Maybe an anomaly but I don’t want to risk another year of hanging sliders

He was stable in 2015 all the way until the Royals series. He has been everything but stable since.
I don't think he'll be back. He needs a change of scenery.

With Tuve's option being picked up, what in you guys' minds is in store for the future regarding contracts?
I'd assume Altuve will get paid, BIG. Just because he was there during the shite years and the build up and already has taken a team friendly deal.
Correa has another year of TC, then arbitration hits....I'd assume you try and tie him up before then. Bregman has two more years before arbitration and Springer is entering his second season w/ arbitration and has it through 2020.
Keuchel is a free-agent after 2018, while LMJ is arbitration eligible this off-season.
The other guys are in the bullpen, but I'm more curious about the core.
Does anyone walk you think? I wouldn't be shocked if they talked together to do something like Golden State did and take less to be able to keep the team together.

Someone will walk, you can’t keep everyone with their current trajectories. Who it will be, I have no idea. Altuve is probably the #1 priority to keep, and he is so tight with Correa that maybe they want to be together for life.
Maybe we just keep winning titles and everyone stays forever. That would be fun. What are the Rangers gonna do this winter McCaig?

I don't see them keeping everyone. Especially Correa.
On this point, I truly am looking forward to being wrong.

I just gave a bit of info in the other off-season thread. Nothing too deep.
Wild card or bust. Only have two full-time MLB pitchers in our rotation right now

I feel like the guy that won't get paid will be Springer. Tuve is a must, and I believe Correa will get a long term extension during Arb. There's no reason to panic, and the core can be kept together for another minimum 2 years. However, I really think they can "save" some money in the long term by extending guys early.

shite, I'm more interested in Marwin for next season. The Swiss army knife allows the team to have so much flexibility. It also allows incremental rest for starters throughout the season.
He played on a one year deal for about 6.2 million.
Hope they can sign him up for something like 4/30, which is a great deal for what is basically a starter

Springer is the only one that might take an extension right now, along with Altuve. There's no way Correa or Bregman would take one unless the offer is over the top. I'm not sure Springer would take one either.

If he has a year anywhere close to last year he will get so much more. Zobrist got 4/56. I would be surprised if Marwin is in Houston after next year. Such is life when you have a loaded team

I really believe there is a chemistry element to this team. They will want to stay together

I hope so. I just don't want to expect it to happen and be disappointed. It's still a business. Winning a title together might sway them to take a little less money though

What's a "little less"?
100m vs 200m?

Exactly. And for someone like Marwin this might be his one chance to get paid. I don't see him passing that up, I am guessing he wants to max it out.
For someone like Altuve maybe it means taking 28m instead of 30m per year or something

Chemistry only goes so far and it’s one of the bigger reasons to do right by altuve now to show good faith when dealing with the others.
Correa getting married to miss Texas is certianly a positive thing for us. Plant them roots.

Altuve and Correa are lifers I think. It's Springer Keuchel and then Bregman down the line I worry about

Man, I hope you are right... but Correa has said on more than one occasion before he was drafted that he always dreamed of wearing pinstripes.

That was a long time ago, specifically before he won a championship here. The Yankees also have the top SS prospect in baseball
