Corpus Christi and Fresno.
yep. Give them full seasons in minors unless they absolutely force the issue

Allows another year deal on arbitration clocks

Would still love a deal for Realmuto. C is our only weakness left, IMO.

Probably a better chance of picking up a LH reliever than a C at this point

Just saw this tweet.

The way the Astros have created this current monster of a team is a blueprint many will attempt or are attempting to emulate with zero guarantee of similar results.

Brings a good point that "tanking to acquire talent" is no guarantee. The moves along the way had to be well researched and well scouted. There were a couple bumps-Appel Aiken and the Gomez trade, but they didnt compound the moves with being stubborn-cut bait on Appel early enough to get Giles, turned aiken into bregman and got a "throw away filler" with Fiers who despite his faults played a key role in getting us to two playoffs.

Like you said there were failed moves that people focus on but this front office’s hit rate is extremely high. We are fricking stacked with talent baws

After seeing what the Cubs and now Astros did I could see more teams attempt it. Especially teams that have sucked for a decent amount of time. Although not all teams will get lucky like the Cubs and Stros who had picks that actually became stars.

Mark Appel people will not focus on, Bregman, Correa, etc they will.

they also will only focus on the cubs and astros instead of the teams like the phillies, padres, or braves who tried absolutely tanking and they either never got over the hump or we are still trying to figure out how their rebuild has gone

rebuilding is hard no matter the strategy because building a winning team is hard

Not sure I would call what the Braves did tanking.... It seemed like they were going to try then went out and traded for and signed a lot of vets....

Padres/Phillies I'm not sure they actively tried to tank, I know after the Padres went out and picked up Kemp among others they traded off but it never felt like they were purposely trying to finish in last place.

The Marlins right now are in tank mode, I'm waiting for them to trade the last remaining players worth a damn.

they went out and brought in vets that had no value to anyone else. they were bringing in placeholders while they waited for players like swansby and acuna and albies to come up

the phillies have been trying to organically build a winner since like 2013 while they were trying to get out from under all of their death contracts and the padres have been punting on their teams since their moves in 2014 bombed

True but these vets showed enough that kept them from a complete tank job as well.

Part of the reason it doesn't feel like they were tanking is that they didn't trade a lot of young players that seemed to have value. They haven't drafted well that much is for sure as well.

Anyway, enough clogging the Astros thread about this, we can continue in the other thread.

Classy message by Musgrove. Got his ring, and hopefully he can shine and show the league what he can do in Pittsburgh as a starter. You'll always have love from me Musgrove.

Well at least one of my teams didn't choke in the post season. Is it baseball season yet?
