I remember the last time we lost game 3 of an ALDS 10-3 and I remember it fondly.

If we win today it’s probably set up in the most ideal way possible.

Cole Greinke Verlander Urquidy Cole greinke Verlander.

Greinke gets to avoid yankee stadium you get two shots to steal games in Yankee stadium and then JV in schedule for game 7

This makes the most sense.

If they lose today, then it's obviously Cole in game 5... so Greinke JV Cole Urquidy Greinke JV Cole... also set up pretty well.

Yes

JV starting 2 games is the key

Holding him for a Game 7 not gonna happen

And theoretically you would likely have Cole available in relief for a few innings in Game 7 if he’s throwing 1 and 5

We have “3 aces”

If we are expecting/needing cole and jv to be perfect then we will get to a game 7

If like myself you believe that we will need someone other than cole or jv to win a game then my posted scenario is the best shot. Greinke has a terrible history in Yankee stadium. Greinke has documented issues with anxiety. The best way to get him a win is pitching in Minute Maid and avoiding a game 7 scenario. If he goes out and gets rocked in game 3 after getting rocked in Tampa we are basically resigning ourselves to 3 useable pitchers on the roster-jv cole and Harris. Is it kind of ridiculous that we are at the point of coddling a guy who was a NL cy young candidate? yes. However I’d rather not ruin the guy when we have 2 more years on his contract.
ETA also it capitalizes on the contrast between the 3 pitchers. If you pitch him game 3 the Yankees get a day off and get to gameplan and adjust to his offspeed. Game 2 you have a turn around from 98-100 all game to whiffle balls the next day

First things first is to get the bats going today

Let's say JV throws 90+ pitches on 3 days rest in a win. Perhaps getting him the extra rest by starting him in Game 3 makes sense from that perspective as well.

It'll be an interesting decision to make. Hinch may consult Maddow, the executive producers of Morning Joe and the managing editor of Mother Jones to get a consensus.

True. Personally I’m shocked they went with the epitome of toxic white male masculinity with JV over the upstart Mexican immigrant

Hinch is smart enough to know Florida decides the election.

George wakes up.

George is waiting for the October Astro fans to begin doubting / bitching about him. Once that occurs, he will then go on one of his classic Springer hot streaks that we will never forget.

Y'all have to have your head on a swivel out there. Every now and again ol' Ryno slips a nugget of wisdom in there when you least expect it.

I totally agree with this statement. I love that JV is starting today and I think he is going to do well and that the offense will come alive and by around 10pm tonight we will all be wondering what we were so worried about.

It needed to be done though. Altuve is balling and is surrounded by pathetic at bats

Here's hoping the bus catches a flat on the way to the ballpark today and the tire change bros find some motivation to hit.
