Yeah, but if Brantley is your other option, I figure it's a toss up

Dusty might rest his legs after his possibly game saving grab

but it's also a risk to burn your only reserve outfielder early in the game

Another reason it was so stupid to leave Meyers off this roster and keep singleton on it. He could’ve also pinch run for yordan last night to add an insurance run

I think even Rickey Henderson was hosed right there.

Question

Was it open during the Sept series there?

No chance, it was probably mid 90s-100s out during that time

I'm tempted to start Chas with his vs Mike's numbers vs Heaney and his overall stats against lefties. Plus the defense factor with flyball Urquidy pitching. But I think I wouldn't frick with anything from yesterday. Run it back.

This would never happen but I’d support playing Dubon at SS and Chas in CF

So, was it closed last night and they're opening it tonight

The only reason I ask this is I was at that game in '05 when Selig made us open the roof and had two 7 yo's along with adults freezing their asses off at 1:20 am and no long sleeve merchandise left to buy

It would be so MLB to now let a team arbitrarily decide to open their roof and it be versus the Astros

pretty decent for a pen guy
quote:

1. Take all 313 pitchers w/ 4+ career postseason starts
2. Take every possible combination of 4 starts for each one (consecutive or not)

The result is 494,310 different combos.

Cristian Javier's .071 opponent BA over his first 4 for the
@astros is still the lowest of them all.

quote:

With 44 career postseason starts, Andy Pettitte has 135,751 different combinations by himself (compared to just the one for Javier). Pettitte's lowest opponent BA in any of those combos was .122.

I dig it, fine with whatever route he went with for the outfield.

Gives the Astros a good LH PH option, provided Mike isn’t in pain.

Yeah lets him skip Heaney and be available in a big spot. He could bat for any of Dubon, Chas, Pena, Maldy depending on the situation.

It’s 12 at bats over the course of probably 4 years. I trust Brantley in games like this

Even if Brantley doesn't get a hit, you can generally rest assured he will get a quality AB. I'd rather see someone with a good approach at the plate than swinging like mad and being an easy K.

Agreed

Chas is 0-fer in ABs that are important

If he’s healthy enough to play I’d much rather Brantley be in there personally. Hopefully he isn’t banged up

Nobody is going to freeze tonight.

It'll be 78 degrees for first pitch and 68 at 10pm

The point is that the decision was forced, not arbitrarily decided

What changed from last night?

Off the top of my head the humidity was worse yesterday. Not sure what else was different out in Arlington since I'm not exactly following weather out in Arlington as I live in Dallas proper. Maybe there was an air quality alert?

More to the point, Selig forced the roof open b/c of a perceived advantage to the Astros

Nothing concerning the roof changing from closed to open has referenced weather or anything for that matter

Who made the decision and why?

There is no consistency within the league office when it comes to shite like this
