I don’t see what a loss has to do with anything. Best team is determined by the eye test and injury list, not wins and losses.

History would repeat itself quite often the next decade plus.
How many other top CFB coaches could go on a run like this if they had that many mulligans and narrative shifts so their program could get more chances than they deserved? Urban Meyer immediately comes to mind.

I’m not so sure they’ll be able to keep it close against Michigan now. We know Bama can get Michigan to OT, so that will provide a better game for viewers. And the Vegas line for Bama/Michigan is closer than Washington Michigan
