Men’s and women’s both.

With the new expansion, the additional eight teams would be added to the current “First Four” play-in round, currently held on Tuesday and Wednesday. The newly expanded play-in round would then feature 24 teams playing 12 games over two days before the winners join the other 52 teams already in the traditional first-round field that initial weekend.
Rebranding was expected around the current “First Four” NCAA Tournament language. Of note, the opening round — now featuring 12 games — will still include both at-large and auto bids.

Why even limit it to 76 at this point? Why not just an open tournament? And why even have a regular season? They’re playing all of those games just for seeding purposes for this gigantic single-elimination tournament? It’s all so stupid what’s being done to college sports.

Wow, Moser will make it in every year now. He was the bubble for 3 of his 5 years.
I hate expanding but its a participation world we live in now. Thank all the soccer moms who made sure even last place kids got a medal or trophy. This is just an expansion of that concept

We'll still suck too much to make it.

Same as pro sports. Just keep expanding until the regular season basically just becomes exhibitions.

Women having 76 teams make the tournament is frickin hilarious. That tournament should be 16 teams max.

I don’t like that. It renders the regular season meaningless.

You'll have teams with losing records in conference play making the field every year now.
Not sure how a team that goes 7-11 in the ACC has an argument to why they should be int he tournament to crown the national champion.
the business of sports has ruined actual sports.

Not one dissenting vote. I’d wager that 80% of the fans (and even media) were against this but the vote was unanimous anyway.
Tells you a lot about how out of touch the bureaucrats running college sports are.

For real.
The difference in just the 25th and 5th best teams is wild in women's basketball.

This has nothing to do with soccer mom culture and everything to do with ad dollars/corporate greed

Those corporate dads get home from work and their soccer wife is gushing over juniors last place trophy and how proud he should be.
Next day he goes back to work convincing college brass to increase teams for more revenue because it will make a lot of bad teams happier and draw in those last place eyeballs.

No one considers the play-ins the real tournament anyways.

Are they one of the best 76? That’s their argument
