I'm surprised to see Tim Lincecum left off of the pitchers list.

Agreed. Lincecum was tremendous.

Nola was great. But also pitched before they adjusted the balls to match the BBCOR bats. 2011-2015 was great for pitchers

If they are considering incredible seasons I feel like Brent Rooker should be on the list. Triple crown winner's don't really happen very often.

Landon Sims too

Nola might be getting dinged a little because he pitched in the dead bat/ball era.

Rooker's slugging percentage that year was higher than the SEC league average OPS.

It's one of the best seasons in SEC history.

He still was basically top 10 or 5 in every major category nationally

I get that bare, but comparing him to Skenes is hard cause of the drastic difference of offense. Them balls we’re flying in 2023

How did Rickie Weeks end up at Southern? And stay at Southern?

Not sure. But just wanted to mention that he was an awful fielder. One of the greatest hitters in world history and a great baserunner.

Not sure if he makes the cut since his best year was in 2000, but Kip Bouknight finished in 2001 tied for the SEC all time win total at 45 with Jeff Brantley.

He stayed at Southern because at the time, he'd have had to sit out a year to go anywhere else

Yeah transferring in 2001 wasn't as easy as it is these days. Unless you were a juco player or a graduate transfer, it was rare back then. Teams managed their rosters very differently then.

And Nola had basically two of those, possibly one of the better sophomore seasons in NCAA history.

He was great. Amazing really. But it was the dead bat era.

yea but every pitcher was facing dead bats

and among starters he finished 2nd and 3rd in WHIP in the country his soph and junior years

and amount starters he finished 6th and 8th in ERA his soph and junior years

To have that sort of elite consistency for two years in the SEC is unheard of, especially as a true soph and Junior

Lol maybe career wise. Skenes single season with us is borderline best single season ever in modern era.

Nola best year(he had 2 years that were almost identical really) :

1.47 ERA —.825 WHIP—9ks/9–1 BB/9

Skenes best year

1.69 ERA—.750 WHIL—15ks/9–2 BB/9

Skenes was better, and had more alive bats, but Nola is in that category. And Nola did in TWO seasons, not one

they were too dumb to even include Andrew Benintendi - Benny had to wait to be included by the fan vote
Ryne Stanek might be a bigger snub, IMO. He went 10-2 with a 1.39 ERA as the ace of a team that broke the record for lowest team ERA in college baseball history.

Hard to believe the Royals have/had 3 of those players.

Skenes had like 80 more strikeouts than him in a very live bat era.

Nola is amazing. Skenes is borderline GOAT.
