Neither will ride in the TDF.

Supposedly they each of the main riders have been “allocated” a grand tour.

Bernal = TDF
Froome = Vuelta
Thomas = Giro

Wow. To be fair, Froome hasn’t been the same after his crash.

Froome will go to the Israeli team earlier I suppose, he was already signed. Thomas was being shifted because of Bernal. They both looked ehh in Criterium. Jumbo was a machine until leader crashed out and abandoned.

A broken femur like his is really a two year recover time period - it is not surprising that he looked so bad this month. I was surprised at the G. Thomas snub though - even if he is not at his best I would have thought that his support would be an asset.

Alleged crash. I still don’t buy it. The ICI didn’t want (couldn’t have) another Lance situation.

Perhaps he looks in poor form because he isn’t doping.

I am pumped to have the Tour on the TV while I'm stuck working from home.

He could barely walk in November the fact that he has got himself to where he is rn is frankly amazing.

They both look like garbage last week. Not surprised that they’re not going to the tour. Thomas has no excuse for his form, but Froome has one and might never be the same?

I’ve never seen a Peleton on a velodrome before. This is interesting race. There’s like 30 guys in a 40 lap race.

I’ve seen that in Women’s but I’ve never seen 40 guys on a track before. It was like nobody wanted a pull and they kept sliding up to make the favorite lead. This Aussie took off early but got caught

He needs to remember (or learn) rule #5, a little adversity wouldn't have stopped a hardman like Magni.*

Hey Chris, Harden. The. frick. Up.

I honestly don't see it as the snub some people do, Ineos has 3ish GC contenders and they are spreading them out over the Grand Tours which makes sense considering the abbreviated season. There is only a couple of weeks between the Tour and the Giro and the Giro and Vuelta actually overlap. I would have loved to see all three battle each other and team politics in the Giro or Tour if they were all healthy. This is a calculated move by Ineos to have a chance to crush all three GTs and given the overlap of the Giro and Vuelta gives Froome a chance since the teams will probably have their strongest GC contender in the Giro.

*for those that don't recognize the picture it is of Fiorenzo Magni who during the '56 Giro broke his collarbone and since he couldn't pull up on the bars attached an intertube to his top tube and held it in his teeth. While he didn't wear the pink jersey at the end he did come in second in the GC.

Froome is the epitome of rule #5. He snapped his femur in half and was back riding in the world tour 12 months later. The amount of work I'm sure it took to get back to that level was immense. Also, the Vuelta starts almost two months after the tour not a few weeks

It was tongue in cheek.

"There is only a couple of weeks between the Tour and the Giro and the Giro and Vuelta actually overlap."

The above is what I said and it is accurate. The GT schedule is extremely tight there is only a couple of weeks from the end of the Tour and the beginning of the Giro and the end of the Giro is after the start of the Velta. Nobody can ride the Giro and the Vuelta and the time between the Vuelta start and the Tour end is only a month (Sept 20-Oct 20). It will be very unlikely to see a single person as a GC contender in the Tour and Vuelta this year.

News out today is any team that has two symptomatic or two positive tests within the entire team will be out of the Tour. So a wrench monkey and a soigneur test positive and the entire team is out.
