He has that Jeter-esque intangible mystique. The BBWAA will be jizzing themselves to vote for him.

I can live with him getting in, its him be a first ballot guy, feel like he's no where close to likeable or mythical as jeets

Not likable to a Reds fan or any fan in the NL Central. He’s been kicking their asses for 19 years.

I had a brain fart and left Pujols off my initial list, fixed it.

Votto is an absolute first-ballot lock IMO. He’s close to top 10 all-time status at 1B, probably doesn’t have enough left to get there.

And people railing about “the Hall being watered down” … you have to understand that it’s only some fans and writers who think the place should be reserved for the absolute Mount Rushmore faces of the game. The people who own, control and administer the Hall of Fame … the Clark family of Cooperstown, New York … want a constant stream of new members in the place. They actually got pissed off in the late 1960s at the writers for not electing enough people, and that’s why they looked the other way when Frankie Frisch and the Veterans Committee started putting all those people in during the 1970s.

To them the place is not some reverential shrine to the game, or something metaphysical and glorious like that cornfield in Iowa, it’s a money-making tourist attraction and museum, and they think there must be a constant flow of new faces to keep it alive, vibrant and relevant. And they view it as theirs, not the fans’.

Best catcher of his generation has to get in the hall no matter how much one dislikes him personally, just how it is.

One of 4 catchers all time with 2,000 hits at catcher, and the all time put outs leader is enough alone.

Not sure we'll ever see a longevity of a career at catcher like Yadi again either.

And barely ahead of Russell Martin

Let me post that again I think you missed it.

Yadier Molina is one of 4 catchers all time with 2,000 hits at catcher.

He is also the all time leader in putouts.

That's how you get in the hall, by having all time great stats at your position.

I don’t get the FYI. Are you saying AJ Pierzynski doesn’t have 2000 hits? Because he does

For the third time, Yadier Molina is one of 4 catchers all time with 2,000 hits at catcher.

Ah so you’re framing so it so his hits at DH or first or whatever don’t count. Got it. Whatever makes you feel better

Even though that’s not what Lester said above

Correct. AJ did not have 2,000 hits at catcher.

That list remains only 4 all time and elite of the elite at the position.

A more rare feat than any other position getting 3,000 hits.

Yadier Molina is a 100% lock for the Hall of Fame.
